And when I say noob programmer, that's an overstatement. I've always been interested in learning how to make bots (sripts) but i'm completely lost on how to go about it. I am retarded. I have no knowledge in programming whatsoever. I know it will take a lot of learning because there looks like there are billions of different "languages." Can someone point me in to the right direction as what my first steps would be? Btw, does me having a mac laptop pose a problem?

First off, I would google some basic guides to learn the basics of the language you want to learn

Since you say bots, I would definitely go for Java. There are plenty of online resources to learn it, and google is a friend when finding them.

Taking some classes can also help.

I've found though, that learning programming is easier when you've got someone to help.

But I think also if you are to just learn it online, then try programming somethings yourself it's also helpful.

Hands-on experiences are great. I'd learn the basics of Java, and then go through some scripts and custom edit them a bit to see how they work.

    Use http://www.w3schools.com/

It's the best free programming site on the net, it has plenty of tutorials and examples for anything you'll want to do.

My suggestion would be to start with HTML (basically the code for how web pages display). Very quickly you'll be able to make something functional like a simple web page. You'll learn the basics of tags and so on as well.

That should give you a good enough start to at least try other areas of programming, but the best way to learn is to take a class at school or at uni.

Nope. (if that was directed at me)

Btw Angelmax.. that website is great it helped me learn HTML as you said to do. I now have a very good understanding of HTML. However I don't see anything for learning java, all there is is javascript. I don't think they are the same thing though? The last thing I want to do is put in time to learning a language I will never need.

Java works easy, You have the Source file, which have the file extension, .java, these are run via a java console,

Javascript is for Web-based applications, and is different to Java.

    Also, if your seriously interested in Java, These videos are great;

    watch most of them :)

I would say if you want to get into scripting you should try using either rsbot or ibot/nexus(whatever its called).

They allow you to write java scripts that can be run in runescape.

This would be a good starting point for you.

Book's like "Sam's learn java in (dunno how many) days/hours" might be a good stepping stone as it will teach you the essential basics/syntax(the coding style) for java.

Javascript is a waste of time as it is webbrowser based.

If you have any additional questions drop me a PM.

What exactly do you mean by try using nexus? Btw I think i'm going to take this class next year in university.. do you think it would help me, or is it completely unrelated to runescape scripting? This is the course description:

It's the best programmable runescape bot made in java using reflection. It costs a small fee a month but if you want to do RS cheating thats what you should use.

As for the course I would say no, There is no direct course to take for runescape scripting.

Computer science would probably be over your head, You should try a beginner java course.

That is the only programming course they offer. It is a first year course how hard can it really be? I'm pretty familiar with HTML at least.
