    GUIDE WRITTEN BY RSEVOLUTION

    ________________________________________________

A Virtual Machine allows you to basically run a different (or same) operating system inside of your current operating system. This allows you to minimize the Virtual Machine, so when you're doing other things on your PC, the operations wont have an effect on your Virtual Machine.

There are many benefits to using a Virtual Machine, one of them, obviously, being botting. I'm actually writing this guide because most of you reading this will probably use it for that very reason. This in no way will act as a VPS, or VPN unless you set up your Virtual Machine to do so.

When setting up the virtual machine, you have the ability to set up virtual hard drives, the amount of CPU Cores & GPU/RAM Memory are dedicated to the VM when it's running, so on and so forth. The required specs and recommended specs are listed above. So... let's get onto the guide.

First, what you want to do is open your web browser of choice, and head on over to this link: VirtualBox.org. Once you're there, you want to click "Downloads" at the left menu.

When you get here, you're going to download the 64/32 bit host version by clicking "x86/amd64." The download, as shown below, is only 90.6 MB in size. So, as far as size goes, it's a very small program.

Once the download is complete, go through the simple, straightforward, installation process. Once your installation is complete, the fun begins.

I'm now going to show you how to set up and create your first virtual server. Before we get started, it would be advised to download an .ISO file of the operating system of your choice. Seeing that you're most likely using this for botting, and RiD is the most efficient, safe, and overall best bot, you'll want to use Windows XP SP3. I found an amazing torrent that will do just fine, just follow this link to (I removed the link due to an infraction.).

When you've fully installed VirtualBox, open it up from your desktop (if saved there) and we'll start setting up your virtual machine.

    ________________________________________________

To begin, you'll want to click "New" at the top left hand corner. This will bring you to the interface to set up a new virtual machine from scratch.

After you're at the second screen, it's time to give your Virtual Machine a name, and set up the OS. Note that the OS setup that you determine here has no influence on how the OS actually works/runs.

Next, you'll want to set up a memory size. This will determine, when running, how much RAM you'll dedicate to your virtual machine. I recommend at least 2-3 GB, for more than one bot, but 546 MB for one bot will do just fine. Click next once finished.

Now is the time for you to set up your virtual HDD. Once you're at this screen, you're going to click "Hide Details" to show all other specs that you can modify.

Personally, I always dedicate at least 30 GB of HDD space to a Virtual HDD so I have enough space for everything that I may use. If you're just going to set up a single bot, I'd only put about 5 GB.

Once you're done setting up your virtual HDD, press create. This will finalize the creation your Virtual Machine. Next, you will need to give it an .ISO to boot from so you can set up the OS (Operating System) you'll be using. If you don't give it an .ISO to boot from, it will give you this error:

To do that, and avoid the above error, you're going to need to highlight the virtual machine you just created and click "Settings" to modify various parts of your virtual machine. Navigate to the "Storage" part of the settings mini-menu.

From there, click Host Drive 'D:' or whatever single CD icon there is there, and click the CD icon in the top right hand corner next to "IDE Secondary Master", as shown in the picture above.

From there, you will have no choices to select (as I do in the pictures below) but you will select the top choice to browse for an .ISO file that says "Choose a virtual CD/DVD disk file..."

Once you've selected that, navigate to your specified OS' .ISO file and open it. Once you've done that, click "OK" on the settings screen. Highlight your virtual machine that you created, and press "Start" to boot up your machine.

If all is successful, you will see this (if you're installing Windows XP):

Congratulations! You've just set up your first virtual machine! There are other things I am going to go over to help you get used to using it, but for now, let Windows install, set up your new virtual machine with a shiny new browser. Download WinRAR and RiD or any bot of choice, and continue on to learn all of the basics and other settings you can modify with your new VM (virtual machine).

    .::TIPS & FAQ::.
Tips & Tricks you can do with your new VM, and also some Frequently Asked Questions.

    ________________________________________________

    TIPS

The first thing I would do, when I get Windows XP set up, is to shut down the VM and modify some settings slightly to make it run to my personal desire. There are many things that I change including:

    1. The amount of processors that are dedicated to my VM.
    2. The amount of video memory dedicated to my VM & enable/disable 3D Acceleration.
    3. Clean up the storage area to maintain a nice, organized HDD.

These all are personal preference. So you can leave them the way they are, or you can change yours to suit your needs. Keep in mind you can have 2 different Virtual Machines, one for day time when you're doing things, and one for night time, when you aren't doing so much. Each having their own different dedicated memory, to run faster or slower when needed. For me, I just have one for botting. My settings for that VM is as follows:

    3 GB dedicated RAM
    128 MB dedicated video memory
    1 dedicated processor
    30 GB HDD
    3D Acceleration enabled

    FAQ & TROUBLESHOOTING

Q: I get the error "FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted!"
A: You have forgotten to set your .ISO file to boot with. Scroll back up just a little bit to see how I explain to do so.

Q: I get the error "AMD-V is disabled in the BIOS."/"VT-x is disabled in the BIOS."
A: This means that you most likely have more than one processor set up and you also have AMD-V/VT-x enabled inside your settings folder. Check at Settings > System > Acceleration to see if it is enabled. If so, uncheck the option. If you still get the error, the easiest way to mitigate it is by only dedicating one processor to your VM. That can be done by going to Settings > System > Processor and dragging the slider all the way to the left. You could also get rid of the problem by enabling either of those options in your BIOS settings. For that, you'll have to google how to do so for your specific motherboard/BIOS.

Q: Will you be adding a tutorial on how to set up Windows XP or other Operating Systems on my VM?
A: Setting up Windows XP is pretty straight forward, but yes, for people who are completely computer illiterate, I will be adding that tutorial at a later date shortly. I have added a download link to the top for downloading and installing Ubuntu onto a virtual machine if you'd like. Although it cannot be used for botting, as no bots currently support (that I'm aware of) Linux. But if you'd like to install Linux/Ubuntu onto your virtual machine, just follow the same steps above for getting your virtual machine to boot up the Windows .ISO, with the Ubuntu .ISO instead.

    ________________________________________________

I hope you all enjoyed my short guide on how to set up a virtual machine. If there is anything you feel I have left out or should be added please send me a PM or post below. If you have any further questions, also feel free to post below or PM me those as well. If I feel that your question is worthy of being added to the FAQ, I will gladly do so to help others. Any mistypes or missing parts that you may find you can also PM to me. Thanks for reading.

[Noob-Friendly/Full Length] Setting up a Virtual Machine [Freeware]

    1. Hello, While installing Windows XP, I reach the step of:

At First i did not really understand this part however I have found a guide detailing:

Just thought that if anyone came across the same minor problem they could see this.

    2. How do I get a working Bot up and running, What files do I need (Java, e.t.c ) And how do I add files into the VM. Would that just be in Settings > Shared Folders ?

    3. Is an anti-virus necessary? Can a hacker infect my actual computer through the VM?

    Other than that.
Great Guide! Thankyou for posting and sharing this information! I look forward to running some heavy duty bots using this Virtual Machine!

VPN - Virtual Private Network: is like a school setup. All the computers are connected to that one big database and it can send data to all the other computers. Also like an office. VPS - Virtual Private Server: Like getting a company to host a Couter Strike server for you, or a Runescape Private Server. Its like other people running a constant server for you, you pay for it, you put whatever software/data you want.
    Hope that helped.

Used this guide today. Everything went perfect :).

I do have a question though, about security on this VM. Which security measures have you taken to secure that VM? Did you just install an antivirus or are there any other things i need to do. I heard that if your VM gets infected, it may jump over to your main computer.

@Michelle - You can do anything on a VPS, as long as the provider allows it, which is usually never a problem.

@Frankzz - I use Sandboxie to isolate applications inside of my box. http://www.sandboxie.com/

@Everyone Else - Thanks for the feedback!
