A reconsideration of off site vouches being able to be used or not allowing evidence of scam reports from other sites to be used. There seems to be a huge double standard in this, apparently the staff here finds other websites staff capable of handling scam reports (namely powerbot) and acts upon their scam reports and the judgments made therein to ban/unban users here. YET they do not allow the use of powerbot vouches (which the very same staff that is responsible for regulating scam reports that we seem to allow to be used as proof/evidence in scam reports here). It just seems that only negative information is allowed to be used from offsite sources when there is also good stuff (vouches) that should be considered . Honestly powerbot has a great vouch/feedback system and is MUCH harder to have faked than sythes simple copy and paste type of system and is pretty well regulated fake vouches anywhere are fairly easy to spot and are usually caught very quickly here and on PB. The legitimate vouches should hold value regardless of where they are given if they are relevant to the types of trading going on with the person who received said vouches .

TL DR Version: If you allow scam reports from other sites to be used why not allow the same staff and community regulated vouches/feedback to be used. Thats a huge double standard, i suggest we allow both or allow neither and drop the double standard .

 

This is Sythe, not Powerbot. Vouches over there can be faked, whilst over here fake vouches are much easier to inspect and look at. Scammer reports on Powerbot are used here as evidence seeing as someone banned for scamming on Powerbot is almost 9.5/10 likely to scam here, especially if it was recent. On an unrelated note, I've heard the Powerbot staff/community is quite corrupted or something, this is just what I've heard though.

 

You can leverage your reputation on other sites as long as you can prove it here, but I don't think we should allow other sites' "vouch" equivalents here. Their standards would be different than ours and enforcement would be a nightmare for mods.

 

There are a lot less scam reports containing Powerbot information than there is regarding successful trades and vouches. If an issue arises with a scam report, then the Sythe member can ask a Powerbot Staff member to look into the incident for them. It's not a big deal because it won't happen too often. But that's not the same for vouches. The staff can't moderate the vouches on Powerbot and for the staff to have to keep getting Powerbot staff members to check the vouches are okay would be a pain.

Let's remember that trust is subjective too. I agree with Sythe not officially endorsing Powerbot vouches but there isn't any problem with a member just saying to another member "My past on Powerbot is successful" and send a link to your vouches over MSN or something. If the member feels that makes you trustworthy than fine.

 

Well I'm not naming names, but R2Pleasent had 15,000 vouches in his title at some time or another and I'm pretty sure he didn't have that many on Sythe. He was probably including all the feedback he every received anywhere ever, and no one seemed to complain. Anyway, that being said, I think we should let people decide which vouches they want to count for themselves. If someone sees they're from another site, they'll probably trade with caution.

 

I think that if they have vouches from other sites they should include a link to those vouches in their sythe vouch thread. They should not however be allowed to use these vouches in a vouch count. It should be up to the discretion of the people who will do business with that user to decide whether these off-site vouches are reliable.

 

Im not meaning to directly link it into the vouches here im just saying it seems to be looked down upon to link to your pb profile feedback here when people regularly link the scam reports. my main point of contention here is the double standard using their "scam reports" and none of the positive feedback

 

I understand that, but I believe that regardless of their reputation or trust on another site they are yet to prove themselves on this site. I believe they should be able to let people know that they are trustworthy of sorts on another site, a link to their vouches or what have you but they should not quote any of them or anything like that onto sythe.org. The scam reports are necessary to be contemplated from different sites as this means the user is likely volatile and after scamming on a different site, is highly likely to scam on this one and so is a huge risk.

 

The staff can't control whether they're looked down upon. You're allowed to post in your thread "Oh yeah I have 500 vouches on Powerbot" but if a Sythe member looks down on it because they're not on Sythe, then that's their decision.
