suggestion:veteran rank

There should be veteran ranks for members that have been here for x ammount of time. Like 3 year vet, 5 year vet, 7 year vet. Don't long time supporters deserve some recognition?

 

I think we there actually was one of these around once. I don't have a problem with it but It's been suggested again and I can't remember why the staff denied it. Also, it's difficult to work out exactly what a "Veteran" is. If someone joined back in '06, posted twice and came back today, would they still deserve the rank compared to someone who joined in 2008 who has thousands of posts and loads of Sythe experience?

 

I doubt that someone who posted twice would come back, but yes he would deserve it. He created his account in 06, maybe he just lurks and doesn't post. If they want to be picky then can just give it to members that are active. Isn't it time for some user appreciation?

 

No point in one. I've seen numerous "veterans" use their join date to fool users into thinking they're trusted, only to end up scamming them

Join date means a lot, you have had this long to scam and haven't. If your active with old join date. You have lurked these forums this long and have become part of a family. Less likely to scam. Anyways no rank should make people trust anyone. Also if I joined in 2007 and sold a account, iv had 5 years to recover. Most people scam in there first year. About 87%

An old account is not an active account. Post count matters and people can see your join date so...

 

If someone wants to say they're a veteran, they can do so in their user title.

E.g Annex.

 

Unnecessary and I could just see it being abused with new members not understanding what it actually means. Often ranks depict something rare, as anyone become a veteran but you have to earn donator or moderator.

 

You have a 2007 join date, yet I've seen your name maybe twice. There's countless people who either A) joined back in the day and just decided to come back now (essentially newfags) or B) have purchased a Sythe account because of the join date.

So if the rank were applied depending on join date, tons of people who don't deserve it will be getting a shiny new rank. Not to mention people will assume it somehow mandates trust, which I'm sure would result in people getting scammed.
