Actually making +500 accounts not to purchase list useful

Hey guys
As many of you know, accounts recovers are one of the most common scam type in RuneScape marketplaces
Since I take care about +500 accounts not to purchase list I think it's not really useful on Sythe, atleast now, maybe if this idea will get accepted it'll really do it's job. People seem not to report accounts what the bought for being recovered, I check 'report a scammer' section for account recovers reports and manually request login of account that got recovered to add it to list.

I've got several ideas how to make this list work better

1) Add to report a scammer sticky: Account stolen/recovered? Read this!
It would lead to post with info about account recovers and guide how to add account to +500 accounts not to purchase
2) Create small account verification team which would verify accounts before sale, smiliar to OGV team, Account verification team would log on accounts and check if they match description written on sales threads and if account are not on +500 not to purchase list. Once account is verified sellers would be allowed to use [VERIFIED] title. If this idea would work, there'll be needed sticky 'What does [VERIFIED] tag mean?'. Maybe some of you'll ask, why this kind of team would be needed, so not all sellers are comfortable with providing login to potential buyer before sale, as it puts risk on account, Account verification team would be made of trusted people only who will check accs in their free time.
I'll have more ideas, I'll update 1st post

No support. More of a hassle than it's worth.

Also, imputing VERIFIED into a title is false pretence. People will assume it's a safe account to buy and they won't have it recovered back from them. I know it directly doesn't state that in the title, or doesn't directly mean that; however it creates a liability.

That's why there would be stickied post explaining what does [VERIFIED] mean
If people are not dumb, they'll read it and understand this tag

I wanted to post reference to this post, however I dont think people would download application just to check if account is safe. Also as I stated in OP, Most of sellers wouldn't feel comfortable giving login to potential buyer

 

Most account sellers on Sythe are one time users. They barely read account sales stickies. They will more than likely overlook the VERIFIED one aswell.

Take it as you please, but from personal experience, this is not worth the hassle, especially with accounts.

 

Support I think this would work well and lead to less people getting scammed

This could be quite a good idea if we could get a team that would be happy to verify it, which would all require to be trusted with account details etc. That would be the hardest bit imo. The sticky wouldn't make much of an effect on short term buyers/sellers as we all know they don't read them, but the 'verified' tag would be a good addition, especially if it was required.

That's the only problem I can see, people faking the verified tag. Maybe it could get moved to a verified subforum?

 

With hassle or without, it'll dramaticly decrease chances of re-selling accounts. That's for +500 accounts not to purchase is, to prevent re-selling accs

3-day temp ban would solve this problem. Using this tag without verification would be counted as fake vouching

that's why there's needed stickied post that will actually bring attention. It'll be explained there VERIFIED doesnt mean account is safe, it means account has not been recorded as recovered and re-sold in the past

 

No, trusted people wouldn't want their IPs to be seen by random people.

 

No support. Even if you did add in a sticky explaining the verified tag, that doesn't mean people won't assume it makes it safe.

 

I support, would need some seriously trusted people checking the accounts though.

 

I didnt mean that every trusted person would have to / could verify accounts.
Only people who will want to do it actually, like Donation services, only people who want to be bond holders are processing donations

 

There are too many reasons why it wouldn't work..

• Having to have a team to do it in the first place, it takes a while to be an OMM, verification would have to be the same.
• People using [VERIFIED] when they're not.
• People who're most likely to be scammed don't read stickies.
• People will assume verified means safe, it doesn't.
• People claiming things were taken, etc.
• People not wanting to give out their IP.
• People gaining an advantage over regular sellers because of the above "verified section".

all for what?

• A few less scams will happen

which wouldn't even happen if they'd read the 500+ accounts sticky in the first place.
