Ok, this is to all the people out there telling others to "stop smoking." It's personal choice, whether it's a friend, family member or even someone off sythe.org. It pains me to see 'good samaritans' advising others to "stop smoking." It's impolite to tell a fat person to stop eating, the same goes for people that just want a nice smoke.

I'm not sure why people even give a shit. There is no sense in telling a smoker to "stop smoking" at all. It is not like being told to stop smoking is going to suddenly open your eyes to what a dirty, disgusting and dangerous habit it is and cause you to subsequently quit on the spot cold turkey.

 

I just think its useless to tell someone to stop smoking, im sure it wont have any effect. Its simply a personal choice if you want to do it or not.

 

We tell people to stop smoking not the benefit of the smoker but for our own health. If it's your choice to have a disgusting, unhealthy habit, that's fine but go do it somewhere that you're not exposing other people.

People who don't smoke, don't smoke because they don't want to die nor increase their chances of having a stroke. If you're going to have a nasty habit, respect out choice and go smoke in a controlled enviroment, away from us.

 

I understand where youre coming from. I dislike the attitude some people have against smoking or smokers. For example I saw someone post, "I hate smokers theyre just disgusting". That is the most idiotic thing to say IMO. Its the same as racism. Why would you hate a person because of a habit.

Its a free world. There are places that forbid smoking just like there are places that approve it. Thats like me telling you to go home because you stink, you have the right to stink and even though I may disagree with how you take care of your hygiene but I cant tell you where or where not to go. Nor do I look down on you for smelling bad because that doesnt determine what kind of person you are. If you dont want to smell or breathe in smoke then go somewhere that doesnt allow smoking, away from us.

I am a non-smoker, but I have to agree with this. People are pushy when it comes to smokers. They're kind of like the crazy vegetarian people who try to push their no meat agendas off on people. It's all a personal choice, and while I do tell my mom to stop smoking I do believe it is useless. It's like telling a crackhead to stop doing crack.

 

I only smoke when drinking, But it definitely drives me insane when people come up to you and try to explain why I shouldn't be smoking. Everything in the world kills us one day why not enjoy what we want?

 

IMO this is a pretty bias opinion of someone who clearly does not support smoking nor likes it, but you say

as if smokers are a different class below everyone else, isn't that harsh, what happened to a free society, where people have the freedom to live there life how they want to (without committing a crime of course), oh wait it was a lie.

 

Free society? Are you literally retarded? There is noting "free" about people exposing others ( without consent ) to dangerous chemicals.

As far as the spectrum goes I'm pretty libertarian but when it comes to the "right" of smokers I should not have to be subject to their dirty, unhealthy, and retarded habit. If you want to drive do it on the road, if you want to smoke don't subject others unwillingly.

 

Your didactic little parable-ish story earns no sorrow from me. It is a crime to cause harm onto others, is it not? Smoking causes cancer and increased possibility of having a stroke, as does second hand smoking, so smoking around others could be depicted as committing a crime. Contradictory, i'd say.

 

I understand where your coming from here and know what you mean but do you 100% agree that there is no happy medium?

 

I don't enjoy breathing in others smoke.
It's especially annoying when someone is smoking right outside a store/restaurant, and I get a nice breath full of smoke when I walk out.

I won't tell someone to stop, since it's their life and not mine. What do I care if they get lung cancer and die, or never be able to exercise because their lungs are disgusting.

However, if I have to breathe in your smoke and be affected by one of the poor choices in your life, then I will complain.

 

Some people really need to get over themselves. Considering you can't smoke inside public areas anymore, there is no reason for you to ever have to be near smoke. If someone lights up a cigarette next to you, which barely ever happens, then just take a few steps the other way. If you happen to get a quick whiff of some smoke, then deal with it. It's not going to kill you. It's absolutely ridiculous how rude and arrogant people act about smoking and look down on anyone who does. I've seen multiple people on here alone actually say they hate smokers. Seriously? Get over yourself already. I do think it's very wrong for people to smoke all the time in their homes with their children around when they can just walk outside, but that's really about it.

Also smoking is a choice and anyone has a right to do whatever they want with their own body. Everyone knows that it's terrible for you, but everyone repeats it like they're actually accomplishing something. You are only wasting your time by stating the obvious. I also hate when people say there is no reason to smoke except to hurt your body when they have never even done it. There are many reasons why people smoke. You either like smoking or you don't and you can't possibly know until you try it. If you don't smoke, then that's great. No one should, but that still doesn't you make any better than those who do.

 

My whole family smokes expect me and my mom. Reason why I don't smoke is that I don't want see my mom so sad..

We have told 3-4 years all to stop smoking, but it doesn't matter.

You miss understood my point, what I wrote was wrong I meant to say free society is a lie, people can't do what they want without someone objecting, I'm not supporting the "smokers" I think it's a discusting habit, but please don't make your comments so personal towards others (without sounding stupid, I hope you know what I mean).

 

In the future, try to make a slightly constructive thread rather than a rant in this section. Otherwise it will become a spamfest. Just sayin'
