I know it's a little bit early before the season starts but I think we can all agree that alot happened in the last few days with the Las Vegas expension draft and the numerous trades that occurred all around the NHL.

I figured we could start this thread by sharing our thoughts on the Golden Knights and also comment on the trades/changes your team made.

I wish everyone a good season and always, may the best team win.

Dallas Stars add Bishop, Methot, Hanzal, Radulov, and had a great draft. LETS GO DALLAS.

    This team is STACKED

Dallas have been stacked for years, yet they aren't able to win anything big.

Not really, always had holes in the defense and goaltending, which have been addressed. Needed more depth on offense, which was also addressed. Needed a non shitty coach, which was also addressed.

Replace Dallas with Washington and you're onto something.

Dallas just recently got good again ~3 years ago. But even then, there were massive holes.

With his possible 13m/year, he'll have all the motivation in the world to do so.

As a Habs fan I was very disappointed to see him go but I understand the professional thinking here. So many taxes here in Quebec, Canada, it's insane. Heard on the radio that if we wanted to compete with the Stars's offer (6.25m/year) , Montreal would have had to give Radulov around 8m/year. Dallas will be a very tough team to play this year.

Our main attraction was Drouin, very hyped to see him perform next year in his home town. Alzner's also a solid add in my opinion, he'll give more stability than Emelin.

He is such a remarkable talent, I've been watching hockey for over 20 years now and Mcdavid is truly an elite athlete. I hope he will have a long career, quite amazed by what he has achieved so far in the league in such a short time.

Definitely might have still paid Rads too much but I love it. Got to take risks to get to the next level. Their current team was good but not good enough

Expectations are definitely high. I feel like this is a good enough roster to compete for a cup. Next year I'd be hoping for a playoff birth and at least one series win. But honestly see no reason that their best couldn't beat anyone in the West.

Bishop will hopefully be a lot better than Niemi/Lehtonen were, Methot will help fix some of the holes in the defense, their draft is promising for the future (top goalie and d man prospect), Hanzal will help in the dot, defensively, and on the PK, and if Radulov lives up to his hype, he will add explosiveness to an already explosive core of Benn/Seguin/Spezza etc.

They also have a young core of promising talent throughout the roster. Off the ice they've done everything they've needed to do . Now it's about chemistry building and teamwork and execution.

So the Montreal Canadiens have officially announced Markov won't be back next season. I must say I feel some bitterness with the decision because he has spent his entire career with the team but realistically, it was a good call. 38 years old and asking for 6m/year is a bit outrageous.

Funny thing is that yesterday, he released this video right here about his wedding. The day after he separates himself from his former team. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Jagr potentially to the Flames on a 1yr, $3.7m contract. Not too sure what to make of this but hey he is still pretty much solidly a 2nd/3rd line player (although one that lacks speed) so will be interesting to see how he pans out should this deal happen

I am hyped as always, been watching KHL since the season started a few weeks ago, hopefully one day we can watch KHL season winner vs stanley cup winner for a 7 game matchup.

So stoked. Only ? For my oilers is defence. Sekera still out for another 3-4 months (at best).

Wing depth is also a bit suspect. Lots of young talent floating around (Slepyshev, Puljujarvi, Strome) but has yet to be seen if any can really put it together and have a serious breakout season. Will guys like Draisaitl, Maroon, Kassian who all had serious career years be able to follow uo with another great campaign? Itll be interesting to see

You know what, barring any serious injuries, I don't see why the Oilers couldn't be fighting for 1st place in the west all season

A lot of experts see them reach the SCF and I wouldn't be suprised if that's the case. They proved it last season; a new era started.

A side note on Kassian, as you mentionned him. I remember when my habs traded Prust for him. Literally a flop if you ask me. Few weeks after the trade, he had an accident and was sued for 100k iirc. We later heard that he would go in rehab due to his drug/alcohol problems. Bergevin got impatient and traded him a few months later to the oils and he got that fresh start and honestly, I'm happy for him. Just sad that we didn't get the chance to see him play with his full potential.
