Do you believe possession is possible?

Last night, I watched the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose".


The movie is based off of the true story of Annaliese Michel of Germany. She was said to be possessed by evil. From a scientific point of view it was said that she was an extreme epileptic with a little psychosis.

After watching movie, i wanted to see how true it actually was. About 90% of the movie was true to the story. Many ruled Annaliese Michel to not be possessed.

I think that it is extremely possible for this to be true. Her symptoms, (doctors also agreed), were not those of an epileptic or a psychosis patient. Doctors rationalized that it must be an odd cross between the two.

Yes, maybe, but does this explain the fact that this..."thing"...was speaking a language that Annaliese didn't even know? Also, the last time i checked you were unable to scream in two different octives simotaniously.

Movies that are supposedly based upon true stories are usually inflated to appeal to audiences.

How do we know that she spoke languages unknown to her?

 

I read that she was speaking an old arabic or something (along with some German). While chanting odd phrases. (Not just during the exorcism)


I do realize that the movies are inflated to make it more believable, thats why i did some research on it.

More on the language, her family verified that a class on the language was not offered to her, and if it was, she must have been speaking it for years to be that good at it. So take from that what you want.

Im still reading opinions online and everything, if i find something interesting to add, i'll add it to my first post.

 

How do we know she was speaking other languages? Did one of the priests say she was? Was he a speaker of that language? Do we have audio recordings?

Yes, my friend's friend was supposedly possessed during a Ouija Board session.

 

This stuff really poses good questions. I wonder about this alot. Ive seen a few documentarys on this kind of stuff Ill see if I can find links.

Possession, in the sense of a supernatural control of a human or animal, no.
Possession, in the sense of controlling the mind through naturalistic means, such as radio waves, possibly yes.

i dont really think that u can become possessed however i think that people can just think that they are possessed when they get somthing in there head that evil is over coming them and influancing them well thats what i think tbh

What you basically said is that they are possessed.

Inside your head controllilng your decisions, movements, and sounds. Possession.

 

Possibly, like I said. I only gave that link as an example of how it's possible.

What he described is kind of like Schizophrenia. People who suffer from schizophrenia think that they're being spoken to by something, kind of like "there's something in my head", stuff like that. It can cause actions that, normally, the person wouldn't commit, sometimes even murder. It's an imbalance of chemicals that clouds their judgement.
So they may end up thinking they're possessed by an evil being, when, in reality, it's a disorder that they can't control.

I've heard there have been cases where people speak in completely different voices or languages sometimes. I've only heard of it though, not sure if it's true.

its an easy insane plead for people in courts though!
Its a waste of time to actually believe in such a thing.
