Been a while since I made another signature (08-22-2010)

Constructive criticism is always welcome.

I am concerned how I can improve this one. (Bad render, I was challenging myself to make something out of it, no seriously, I mean it, it was a bad render.)

purple blob/smudge is the focal

i know im a hypocrite but its too sharp around his face, coupled with the blob, my eyes dance everwhere apart from the intended focal. The placement is OK, maybe a little to the right would be better.

text is badly placed as it is on a powerpoint (look up rule of thirds)

would like to see some more colour in the background.

flow is very weak.

lighting is boring, pretty generic

more depth, utilize blur and sharpen tool more.

colour scheme is also kinda standard, try experimenting with combinations or use a colour wheel to pick out a consistent colour scheme.

finally read this tutorial, it's the best tutorial ive seen and helped me so much with understanding the fundamentals of more complex and advanced tagging.

remember not to follow a tutorial word for word, experiment and change it if you think it looks better. setting the foundations for your own style early will help immensely in the future if you continue to be dedicated to tagging etc.

 

Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear. The render only had one color which is yellow so I had to stick with it. And I don't like following tutorials, I'll have to say no to that suggestion but I appreciate every criticism, thank you very much old friend.
