    This should be considered scamming

I was browsing through some threads and found this.

Basically it has come to my attention that people have been recruiting people from sythe to come "lure" with them in runescape. Obviously when they request people to lure WITH them, they are not requesting people to come so they can kill then; yet they then proceed to go out and BS / turn on them should in my opinion be considered scamming. They are giving people false information at the least.

It is the same concept-- You are trusting them, they lie and end up with your shit.

Can someone explain how this is not scamming? I mean in the thread they are talking about how they are making money off of these people they are tricking.

In my book this is scamming.

If there is a rule against this already then my mistake, I checked but could not find anything.

If there is not enough support for this to be considered scamming them there should atleast be a sticky made to warn newer members.

Luring to begin with is already drawing a fine line, what's the difference between luring someone and phishing accounts? Both ways you're tricking someone into trusting you, so you can steal their hard earned items.

This makes it even worse, I completely agree.

The funny thing is that you apply to deceive other players, but get betrayed yourself. Personally, I would never trust a luring clan around here. They all have the same way of thinking, which is: "It doesn't matter if the other person loses everything he has, falls into depression because of a game or whatever. All that matters is whether I get the cash or not."

Trusting such people only invites shitstorms in your near future.

But in a way, they're not really breaking any rules. When luring, you trick other people in-game into coming inside the Wilderness or any other dangerous area, get them killed, and then loot. Similarly, they trick you via the forums, calls you into the Wilderness so both of you can gain each others' trust, then bam, your heart starts beating faster and before you know it, you're making 'yet another iMad' thread in the RS General.

    Tl;dr: I'm neutral.

This is the main thing about what these people are doing-- essentially it is the same thing as scamming. Like GP / RL money scammers they are deceiving people through the forums and end up taking their items.

Then according to what you're saying, the entire luring thing should be banned as it always involves deception one way or the other.

Not necessarily what I mean is that if he is personally seeking out and deceiving people through sythe.org, then he should be banned for scamming on sythe.org.

If someone is luring and killing people in runescape with a few friends then yeah you can consider it immoral but it is not happening through sythe so its not like you can ban them for scamming on RS.

But I think if people are personally targeting sythe members through sythe to get lured then it should be considered no different then other scams.

There was a discussion about this in the staff lounge. Essentially, the majority of staff argued it was simply part of the game. Thread denied, sorry.
