New skin?

Come on guys. It's been a few years that Sythe has been using this current skin. I know the skin's not broken or ugly, but don't you all think it's a time for change, at least?

 

Agree. It is not ugly, but it has been the Sythe Skin for a while, and I think there should be a change..

It would be very much un-recognizable and many of the veterans (not me) would not like it at all.

On-topic. I don't really think we'll need a new skin. There's already a new one, but that've got some bugs. Better fixing that first.

 

You don't like the skin?? It isn't that bad, plus I don't think you are actually aware of how vbulletin works are you...?

EACH skin has its own PHP templates, and in each template if the Admins of Sythe have made any custimazations (which I GURANTEE you they have) They those adjustments are in the current skin's Templates. Now for the admins to create and design a new skin, they would have to spend a good deal of time editing all of the new templates to support their add ons (like the Username pictures, or the banner, or the adsense, etc etc etc)

Now supposing they made the skin and had it inherit the old skin's templates in the Style editor, they would still have many tweaks, and besides that can pose a security risk if not done precisely.

I have been coding vBulletin for years and I know that if it isn't broke don't fix it, and don't change it, unless of course, you have a HUGE dedicated staff to upkeep the PHP code.

Maybe that will explain to you just why Sythe has the same skin.

 

What don't you like about the skin that makes you want it changed? I like it personally, and it's never really bothered me.

I guess it's not a bad idea. Members could use a change and variety on the looks of things.

Support! A new skin would be sick! And it would make being on Sythe more enjoyable.

 

It's a good idea in theory but (so they say) it would be too much work to switch to a new one... or fix the other one.

this one is easy to watch on, and when u make like all freaky pictures or anything on the background it could be fall away.
