i always ask for a pm, with details of the trade etc.
never thought asking for a pm could actually get myself banned :-\
its kinda disturbing that people go to such extremes to scam another person.

Wow, took me a while but I got it eventually. Pretty smart imo.

Thanks for the heads up

Whoa, people have too much time on their hands...
It is confusing but i did get it.
Framing and getting users banned, its just sad imo.

Happened to me a month or two ago. He kept telling me to say something like dragon1234. Then I was like "...?" So I sent my email and the other persons email in the PM and then he blocked me like two minutes later.

Not sure if srs or just newfag...

i've come across it many time's but when i pm i always tell them to pm me first for that reason and whn i reply i say i am on (msn email) only :)
i think someone posted it before but the way you worded it very simple and easy to understand. GJ

Wow...people go to such extents just to "attempt" to rip someone off, thats lame =\

It'd be a good idea to get full contact details before trade; a phone call or webcam session would be great.

Scammers are coming up with new ways everyday instead of just playing fair...

Here's another type of scam I've experienced on a different forum:

Scammers: Person A and Person B
Victim: Person C (looking to buy/sell/trade something)

Person A creates an email that is similar to a high ranked staff's name, could be exactly the same but making it @live.com or something like that.

Person B now contacts person C that he is interested in selling/buying/trading what person C wants to sell/buy/trade.

Person C will not trust Person B because he probably doesn't have much vouches, Person B says that he will get a trusted MM. Person B invites Person A, who is using an email similar to a name of a high rank staff on the forum and pretends to be them and the MM.

Person C trusts Person A, gives person A the details, money or whatever and Person A and B leaves when they get what they need and block Person C.

This is pretty old, but thanks for telling the community, I guess.

Well known method.
