    So i got bored and decided to work on a new Signature, keep in mind i've only been doing graphics for a few months. Let me know what you guys think.

    You smudged the render and filtered the fuck out of it, put some text and glowed it. Never glow or bevel text unless you really know how to use it, and dont use those things that warp text, there terrible. There no blending, no depth, lighting, the layers are very easily distinguished, id highly recommend going over more tuts.

    Erm. Thanks for the feedback I guess?.. On that note, I didn't Smudge anything and there was no beveling or Filtering... I rendered clouds and used 2 different brushes. The warped text doesn't look that bad, better then how it looked before. Not every signature needs Depth, lighting or blending. And since the layers are very easily distinguished please pick them out for me.

    You have a layer as your BG, a layer as your render, and maybe 2 or 1 layers as your text, im not saying thats exactly how it is but thats how it looks. What all effects are on the text? It looks beveled/textured. Yes, the warped text doesnt go with the flow. Yeah, not every signature needs depth or lighting but the good signatures have it. Pretty much every signature should have blending. How did you make the BG? Eye-dropped 2 colors from your render,filtered clouds and brushed? I used to do that, its not the way to learn believe me, learn technigues such as smudging, i always used to have trouble making BG's too, i used to do that you do, instead, try rendering clouds then trying out a coupld filters, duplicate the layers and set them to different opacities and overlays, im saying even you could do better then this.

    I like it! the various glowing letters add a nice touch. Maybe replace the feathered border with a normal one and use a adjustment layer to make the soldier more green, its looking pretty nice though.

    Made the border more like a normal border but kept a little bit of the feather and colored the spartan more greenish.

    Lovin it. :) 10 times better then the one in OP.

    Curious, for the text, did you use the dodge tool to lighten certain letters?

    I duplicated the text layer and deleted the rest of the text that i didn't want to glow, lined it up then went to blending options > outer glow, Set the spread to 0 and then increased the size until it looked like it was glowing around it not just the letter. The lighting / shading helped the glowing of the letters a lot tho.

    Lots of people who start out tend to make the background first and then add a render and text. It isn't a bad way to do it, but it doesn't look as good as when you start out with the render and make your way through. Smudge parts of your render and make it actually go with the background. Just experiment. And when you resize your render, hold shift so you doing loose quality. It's not bad (both of them), it's just that you made the background then added the render. You could duplicate the layers, smudge, filters, distort, etc and just mess around with it creating something nice. Also, try to make it flow together. I don't mean in straight linear, but something in the general direction. Most important of all, experiment.
