Its actually a pretty good deal.

You wont be able to buy better with that amount of money, and the GTX 285 isn't terrible.

Here is a handful of benchmarks on the GPU that will give you a rough estimate on the FPS you will be getting-

Also, the i5 760 is still a great CPU, just dont expect even 3570K levels of performance.

Thanks for your comment Justin! I'm just really not THAT much into computers to know if I'm making a good deal or getting ripped off.

    * Do you think $450 is a good deal or do you have a different price in mind I should try to offer?
    * Will this configuration last me for a few years and be able to play current games that are out now at high settings?

It is a good system, but if you can get it for less that is always a plus too. I would try and offer $400, but $450 is a fair price honestly.

The GPU can always be upgraded in the future if you want more performance.

Right now this rig can play most games at high settings, depending on the resolution. This was a great GPU when it came out, and by no means does it suck, but its 3 years old already. You can probably get away with playing on this rig with medium-high settings for a few years atleast.

Alright, what about the CPU and the rest of the system. Is that outdated or not good for the price? Would there be a better system you could get for $400?

For the price I don't think you will get a better system. The only bad thing is the CPU and motherboard run on a CPU socket type that isn't used anymore, called 1156. Intel switched to 1155. You would be limited in your upgrading the CPU unless you want to upgrade the motherboard as well.

That being said, if you are only gaming the CPU will serve you very well. Games now use the GPU more than the CPU anyways.

Yeah I'd just use it for gaming, that's about it. But that being said by you, do you think the CPU / Motherboard will limit me in feature games? I'm not a die-hard gamer but I do like my shooters / racing games which I enjoy playing at high settings.
