You're going overboard, that's my opinion.

** How bumping infractions are handled:
First Violation: single-point infraction and removal of posts in violation
Second Violation: 3-day forum ban from the particular forum in which you were over-bumping
Third Violation: 1-week forum ban from the particular forum in which you were over-bumping
Fourth Violation: 1 month forum ban from the particular forum in which you were over-bumpin

Seems like you're fixing stuff that's not broken instead of trying to fix things that are.

Actually, there was an issue from several members who thought they could do it because of how they interpreted the rules, we changed it so once you know about the rule you'll be sure not to break it, otherwise You will be punished and punished heavily if it continues.

It was broken, we fixed it.

This is true except I think he is more talking about the varying degrees of punishment rather than the rule itself.

I support z, i feel that the first punishment is fair, but the others are a bit steep and unreasonable

I don't think they're steep enough and reasonable enough, if you break the same rule more than twice, you deserved to be punished.

We dont just silently infract them for this rule, we make sure they're aware of breaking it and the consequences they will expect if they continue, the punishment is fair IMO.

I think it's fair. It's just like anything really; you get a warning, then further punishments.

The punishments are completely fair. An infraction is a warning - if you proceed to commit an offense after a warning is given, you should be forum-banned.

As much as I don't agree with a 3 day forum ban for a second violation, it will definitely bring less "spam", so by all means I am going to take side with those who made the rules.

People were showing blatant disregard for the rules. I've issued the same very well-known person three infractions so far, all in a span of about two weeks. The new bumping rule serves to inform people exactly what we consider bumping and to show them that we're serious that they obey the rules.

If I understand the rule correctly (without looking it up)

    1)warning
    2)3 day ban
    3) forum ban

I think that is more then fair. Everyone makes mistakes, but the same one three times?

Then why not do this for every single infraction if its so fair instead of just bumps? The answer is because its too much, right?

    New Bumping Rules

I think the current punishment system does not need amending.

However the actual rule of bumping 'daily' should be more redefined.

There are 24 hours in one day, therefore users should only be permitted to bump once per 24 hours.

Unfortunately I have seen not only regular members bump every 1-15 hours but staff have too.

It really is. If you break the same rule more than once and you are getting annoying, staff do take harsher action. People just abuse bumps way too much so the punishment is stricter. I'd just rather have the 2nd and 3rd infractions worth more than the first one as that is easier than forum bans but it doesn't really matter to me.
