The great things about "Last logged in from"

Well i bought an account a few months ago.. So the guy decided to recover. Shame i recovered it back and as i logged in... "Last logged in from: ipaddress"
Managed to track the guy down. I was surprised also that he lived a few towns away AND that i even managed to find him at all..

He will never recover ever again.

 

I'm thinking about buying an account I had my eye on. Any safety tips? He has a few vouches that are legit and a 800 post count which doesn't really matter. Tips?

Are you able to pinpoint his exact address? The only thing I see people able to get from an IP address is the suburb at most, and the ability to DDOS?

The IP given was the thief's ISP which is shown as a suburb or city. With a little bit of work, you would be able to trace it down to a house (or with very little work, to a phone number)

 

I had a bit of help but yes that's pretty much it. No matter how many vouches someone has.. There is always that risk factor. I mean look at Cyberman9, he was trusted with bils upon bils of gold until he scammed 10b ~ $5000.

I went to this guys house and was pretty chilled, the guy freaked out at first. In the nicest way possible, told him that i would find a better use for his knees.. They look good on my mantle piece now.

With your username I would have thought the trade would have went the other way. I am glad you got your stuff, and no matter how long you have an account the original owner can always recover.

 

I highly doubt you found his exact address and went to his house. Oh well, e-thugs will be e-thugs...

I didn't actually do anything haha. I just told him who I was, I told him who he was and said that i was pissed. I think me just showing up startled him enough, but hopefully he doesnt recover the account again.

 

This. It is impossible to find someones EXACT adresse with a simple IP, the most you can get is a radius of the area he lives in. And most of the time the radius is quite huge. Even with his paypal name, i highly doubt you managed to get his adresse as he is probably a kid and he dosen't own the place.

And the way i located him, was pinpointing his suburb, then using his name to find him in that suburb using the white pages.
