    Mental Health Problems

just wondering if anyone else on the forum has trouble with any psychotic disorders? I am diagnosed with tourette's syndrome, manic depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, and bi-polar disorder. I am prescribed klonopin for the anxiety, and abilify and lamictal for the bipolar, depression, and OCD. they really help my bi-polar and OCD but I still have a lot of trouble with my anxiety and TS. I've tried every medicine in the book for my tics but nothing helps, and there isn't any medication made specifically for tourette's. i have a hard time in social situations and i'm not even able to go to school because i freak out and my tourette's gets really bad, and i'm in my senior year... graduation is right around the corner and i'm failing. i stay so stressed out and all these things just put me under so much pressure and i just wonder all the time why god gave me all this to deal with. i'd be really appreciative if any of you have anything that would be supportive to me right now cause all this has really got me upset. can any of you relate?

do you mean you have tourette's disorder, generalized anxiety disorder/anxiety disorder NOS(ocd is an anxiety disorder), bi-polar(manic depression means the same thing).

you cannot have depression if you also have bi-polar disorder as depression is half of bi-polar disorder.

criteria for major depressive disorder/dysthymic disorder:
"there as never been a manic episode, a mixed episode, or a hypomanic episode."
    -DSM-IV-TR

Don't hate god for the obstacleput in your way, he only put them there because he has a plan for you regardless of what you may think now. Don't worry too mug about bad marks in school, there are plenty of very successful people in the world that may have not been the best in school. You still got a whole life ahead of you.

I've got a few disorders, firstly bring Schizoid Personality Disorder, secondly Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I don't seek any medication or therapy for either disorders, I try my best to beat them and some patches of my life are great, I have a good social life although limited, I do go to parties on occasionally (largely helped by the influence of alcohol) and I do regularly interact socially although I am constantly worried about what I'm saying, doing etc.

When I my happiness relapses (often short-lived happiness), I'll face bounds of depression, angriness etc. which I'm always ready for, the only reason I haven't considered therapy yet is because I want to dominate it and see if I can beat it alone, I've mapped out the way I want to look and am doing my best do make that happen, I don't expect a miracle, but all I want from life is happiness and not having to worry about my appearance, basically.

i wrote a term paper on the schizoid personality disorder.
all i can say is that, when people do get better, it usually takes a long long time.

also, with all your social insecurities i would guess you had the avoidant personality disorder.

people with schizoid personality disorder simply do not care about other people. they have no need to join into social interactions and most social interactions are survived using superficial behaviors.

people with the avoidant personality disorder on the other hand want to be involved in social interactions. they just find their insecurities dont allow them to participate fully, and so appear withdrawn like people with schizoid personality disorder.

i guess the real question is:

do you spend time on solitary activities because you simply dont care for others or because you are afraid of being humiliated based on your perceived deficits?

You could say that my social interaction is just a method of getting my mind off things, but you're right, I could happily live my life in isolation, not physically but emotionally and to a certain extent sexually (sexual interaction feels like an invasion of my privacy).

As for the "not caring" part, I don't care much for anyone who isn't close family. That's one of the characteristics of having this disorder, if someone died very close to me I don't know how I'd react, but I couldn't imagine it to be very painful. Some people may call me cold or heartless but that's how my life is.

ok you do have schizoid personality disorder.

i have it to some extent aswell. i only participate in social interactions because how how overrated it is.

low interest in sexual encounters is a behavior exhibited by people with SPD.

people expect others to conform to their prototype of a normal person.
they dont realize that there are indeed naturally different types of people.

Just wondering why, but you seemed to be trying to disprove me about my disorders by saying "ok you do have schizoid personality disorder.", as if I was misdiagnosed by multiple psychiatrists?

I do agree with you about nonconformity, though. I won't be a clone and get a conventional job amidst the thousands of others who's aspirations are something so shallow as an object like money. Money does make the world go round, but it doesn't make mine.

i'm almost 16, sometimes i think i am ugly, i think i'm chubby. other times i think i look good. at school i am fairly happy, but when i get home i get depressed very easily over vanity and such. i get very over-confident and then get squashed when i realize it isn't amazing in the slightest. my schoolwork has changed, i go from putting a LOT of effort in to work, to hardly any at all. i'll see things the way i want it to look clearly in my head, but then i'll completely change my mind. sometimes i convince myself that the littlest things have a weird, special meaning that i don't understand.
