From what I remember you can kill one of those barbarians to make a pyre ship as well.

 

Drop rate for those is entirely too slow

 

Confused and lost barbarians in the ancient caverns always drop mangled bones.
Those can be used to make pyre ships as well.
The reason I know this is because I needed to make a pyre ship for a clue recently and I killed one of those.

 

"After completing a bow fire, Otto will explain the art of making a Pyre ship. You need to enter the dungeon below the lake and fight to obtain chewed bones or mangled bones. Mangled bones can be found by fighting monsters in the Ancient Cavern or rummaging the barbarian skeleton. The only way to get chewed bones however, is to kill Mithril dragons. The Barbarian training can only be completed by using chewed bones"
