First interview tommorow.

I'm having my first interview tomorrow, at Dunkin Donuts. My step-father's boss knows the owner of the Dunkin donuts I'm applying too, and asked the manager to at least interview me. I'm pretty psyched, but nervous at the same time. I'm just curious what types of questions I'll be asked during the interview, I'm aware of how to conduct myself during this interview. Sit straight, smile, talk confidently, look into his eyes, etc. I'm just scared I'm going to get asked a question I'm completely unaware of.

It'd be cool if people that have had successful job interviews could share their experiences, some of the common questions asked, and some of the ones that caught you off guard. My interview is at 12PM noon. THANKS!

 

It's pretty simple, be yourself BUT show the best of yourself. Let them know how can you be of great help, why would you LOVE to work with them, and how could the experience of having this job help you in your life.

Don't worry, with an interview like that you won't get asked too many nerve racking questions.

However I do know that most employers at least from where I'm from look for team players when hiring. Try to come off as a team player more than an individual. Your NOT going to get questions like where do you see yourself in 5 years, those caliber; it'd be highly unusual.

Instead you'd get questions along the line of, what sports do you play, how do you take safety in the workplace, what are your hobbies, what is teamwork to you. Those type of questions you're more likely to expect if any.

Rest assured, the fact that you have a referral that knows the owner already puts you in the good books, just come off as friendly, helpful and a team player and the job is yours; Good Luck!

 

Be prepared to answer questions regarding to how you handle situations, practical "on the job" kind of duties and the way you would go about dealing with it.

I remember whenever I got an interview at a place where they handled food etc they would ask me questions like "when was the last time you dealt with meat?" (Interview at the Deli). Though it was random, it was a question asked.

I wouldn't be too worried as you got a hook up from your step-father knowing the owner like you stated. Be confident and keep calm!

They'll probably ask you what you think your weaknesses are. Be ready for that, have something in mind so you don't say something stupid.

 

For a job like that they'll most likely ask you why you want a job, which shouldn't be hard. Need money for drugs no, need money for post secondary education yes.

Well, it was really akward to me. They really didn't ask questions such as "what would you do?" types of questions. He would start by asking me a routine questions, then we kind of swayed deeper into that conversation, or switch to a different route. He said a lot of "I'll work you 5 to 9" not so much "If you were to work here, you'd be working..." I felt like I may of messed up on the last question "Why should I hire you?" but overall we had a few laughs during the interview, he shared some of his stories as well, I've never had an interview so I don't know if it was the average interview, a cool interviewer, or a bad interview. He said if I don't recieve an answer by Monday then the position went to someone else. I shook his hand at the end, told him I'd be hearing from him soon, and he said "Yes you will"
