Punching People In Dreams

Is it hard as fuck to do for anyone else? I just woke up, and in my dream (and the last few days/weeks I've had this same thing) where I'd get in a fight with someone, and I would try to punch someone, and it felt like my hand moved in super slow motion, and then it does nothing. It's actually kind of aggravating.

Is this a problem for other people? Or am I just a real shitty dream fighter? (no dream UFC for me it seems)

Only for me it was as though I was extremely uncoordinated and I just could not aim my punches at all.

 

Dude man I get those at times and really hate it when you can't fight back. I believe most of my dreams I either end up dieing or going to jail and then getting killed. I actually am able to fight in most of my dreams but recently I had a dream I was trying to fight off this evil shadow that kept following me in mirrors. Everytime I reached out to punch him it seemed he would get further away from me. Then I got stuck, like i was in cement bricks and the shadow just kept going far away from me. I then died and then woke up. x.x

You are probably thinking too hard that you can't fight someone in real life? Or you just have a rough couple of nights.

I loved that movie "Inception" because it really got me thinking about how the dream world really works. Like when you die you come back to reality and how you can control your own dreams. It seems that's how it is with my dreams.

 

sounds like your dream world is trying to help you out with dealing with your feelings of physical impotence.

inception had an absolutely terrible depiction of dream worlds.
sure, you can control your dream worlds, but only with an incredible amount of practice and volition.
you may not wake when you die in dreams, you may just start another dream. we have several dreams a night. we only usually remember the last one.

please do not use inception as a positive example of dream depiction

 

Try inducing yourself to have a lucid dream.

If I'm having a nightmare and I need to run, It slows me down 100x and I can barely move, the same for fighting. It's strange.

 

Also usually happens. It's real weird.

Yeah, maybe. I've always been a bit unhappy on how skinny I am, though I don't get why these dreams would be happening now as I've been this way my whole life.

I've never died in a dream, usually it just happens that all of a sudden I'm in a fight and I can't really punch., but I never get hit either.

 

I have experienced this before, same thing happens if I try running sometimes. The most likely answer to this is because you have never actually experienced punching this person. Your brain can't simulate you punching them because it never happened.

 

It happens to me sometimes. It's real weird and it gets me thinking if that's how I actually fight irl LMFAO...

 

Yeah man I used to get that too. When I was younger, I would try and punch someone but it felt like I was punching through sledge. I could never hit anyone very hard! Although now that I'm older, when I get in a 'dream fight,' I punch just like normal. :S

 

what the f.. now you say it.. i've had those dreams alot.. its wierd, trying to hit him but you just mis.. again and again...

 

I get the same thing...When I am punching/stabbing/more extreme things in my dreams I feel really weak and like my hand is going slow, that or they just won't die...My dreams are messed up

 

Lmfao! This is funny that you mention this... I have had this problem my whole life. It is very frustrating when I have a dream where I get into some kind of violent confrontation, because I always feel so weak. It feels like my limbs are weighed down and move very slowly, and it always feel like I am being overpowered. I always just assumed it was me but I find it funny that it happens to alot of people

I had this happen. I thought I was high at a buddies house and I was sitting on some staircase outside the apartment building and people needed to get by. I kept asking them to help me up and trying to reach for them but I couldn't move like at all. It was really weird.

 

No that has never happened to me.. lol

 

That's odd. I can't recall ever having dreams in which I fight people.
Besides, I never move in slo-mo. I move at extreme speeds.

I've never tried to punch some one in my dreams so I wouldn't know about it. That's petty interesting though, I wondering what other actions you can't do in dreams, or who it's limited to?

 

I've totally had this dream over and over again. Although recently it stopped and I've felt invincible in my "fight" dreams.

Same thing goes for trying to run/sprint. Felt like I was so much slower than everyone else and always had to play catch up
