Russias intervention Ukraine.. build up towards? ..

I quickly searched through the sections and I must say that I am VERY surprised a discussion has not been sparked regarding this topic.

Let's start out and backtrack a bit. In 1991 Ukraine declared their independence from Mother Russia months before the collapse of the soviet union and ever since have been faced with a post-communist nightmare. In november of 2013, protests first broke out in Ukraine when former president Viktor Yanucovich rejected a trade deal with European Union. The breakthrough into the EU was believed to life changing for their economy!

You might ask; why did they not unite with the Euro? Russia -- who seems to still hold close ties with Ukraine -- bailed them out with 15billion. Russia is mainly interested in the Oil pipelines that pass through Ukraine. That was when the revolution took off. The people had enough and took to the streets occupying independence square in the heart of Kiev. These protests saw quite a few twists and turns including violent interventions after activists took Ukranian riot police hostage. This flashed a green light for force to be used against activists and lead to 75 deaths and over 300 injuries.

Yanucovich has since then fled to his allies in Russia. Ukranian parliament have voted to remove him from power. Yanucovich has vowed that this will not happen and that he will remain the Ukranian leader.

Today we are patiently spectating Putin's next move. Barack Obama has made it clear that any military intervention by Russia in Ukraine will be followed up with dire consequences. Putin is slowly pushing the United States governments buttons -- then again -- everyones buttons. The United States believes that Russia should respect Ukraines state sovereignty and allow them to resolve their political structure.

The clock is ticking, and so far it seems as though Russian troops have set foot in Crimea, Ukraine.

What is the next move? Where is this headed? Is a world war being brewed? Should we be worried?

The US is very hypocritical and I can say that as a US citizen. We went into numerous countries and areas for the exact same thing that Putin is doing. It is all political positioning at this point. If the Ukraine splits he wants to be there to reclaim the part that remains pro-Russia. Taking military force would be a mistake at this point, but at this point it is probably too late with armed officers and all within the country. I don't see a World War brewing but I can see UN intervention to be likely. Which will be interesting
Russia will be backed by China in the Security Council but the US had the UK and France in their corner.
