how to get more then 1 colour/material per word

hey there, just a quick question about GFX I can't remember how to divide a letter into parts so like half of it is red and half of the letter is yellow suppose, could you please help me out? thanks!

note: this is all in C4D

edit: what I mean by this question is like this:



if you look at the words it's alternating white/blue each letter, I want to know how to do that (that picture is xDePloY's and I take no credit for it)

 

Is this in Photoshop or C4d?

Uhh... the welcome sign is just multiple layers of C4D moved to the back of every individual layer to create the layer effect. Then all I did was put a wrap around it + alternate between glow/smoothing materials. Your question isn't really worded correctly or my welcome sign is not a example of the work your trying to question.
