Oops? Berserker pure or 50 Defence and barrows gloves...

I came back to this account a few months ago. It was already berserker pure, but in the meantime I have gotten it 99 Strength, Korasi's sword, and a chaotic maul and chaotic rapier. Heres my problem. I only have iron gloves right now and I dont have Hero's quest/legend's quest started! If I did my research correctly that means I can only get Adamant Gloves since my defence remainder is 1350 until level 46. Epic fail right?

Here are my stats

80 Attack
99 Strength
45 Defence (1350 XP remainder)
55 Prayer (for hybriding with spirit shield)
95 Magic (soon to be 99)
85 Range (I hate range)

So here is my question, should I get barrows gloves anyway? Or should I stick with adamant gloves and 45 Defence. I would be happy with adamant gloves for welfare pking since they are basically rune gloves. But I love to hybrid, and having barrows gloves would help tons. Also, maybe I could hybrid with battle robes as long as I am getting 50 Defence?

If I did hybrid with battle robes, I would have much better defence and better magic bonus than mystic. Problem is I most likely would be risking Korasi/full battle robe set every time I go hybridding. With mystic and adamant gloves (thus staying 45 Defence) I would be risking only 500k tops, compared to 1.5M+ if I used battle robes.

Also note I pk with friends in multi 90% of the time, thus reducing my chance to get tb/farcasted. I also use war tortoise. I havent used this setup yet, but I rarely died with my mystic/combat bracelet/whip. I think using a BoB now, barrows gloves, and chaotic rapier will make me much more deadly, but is it worth ruining my 45 Defence and risking?

Well, personally I would just get the Barrows Gloves and Battle Robes. 50 Defence also opens up other melee armour for you to wear, like Granite if you chose to wear it.

It is higher risk like you said, but you also mentioned it is higher defence and you will be getting better hitting power along with that. So you are getting a win offensively and a win defencively.

Add to that the fact that 90% of the time you are with friends, and I think you have your answer

I guess in the end, it all comes down to what you think will work better for you. If you are getting kills perfectly fine now, I guess you could decide to not mess with your formula. But I think going the extra mile to get the new gear would benefit you. Just my opinon.

Side note: EVERY TIME I see a crew going out into wild and some of them wearing Mystic, I flame them for the lulz. Seeing someone welfaring in Mystic just makes me cry/laugh.

 

Thats exactly how I feel man, ideally, I would have gotten barrows gloves before this. I could have gotten Dagon Hai because they look better and slightly better pray bonus, and I would have a maxed zerker pure! (Considering I train my range and magic) I guess I am going to take your advice and try pking with what I have and Ill see how it goes. If I am not dying much as is, I will get battle robes and barrows gloves for sure.

 

Stay 46. 46 is the equivelent of 1 extra hp level, it will never make a difference as your always, always fighting ATLEAST +/- 3 cb levels.

Get 50 if you want once your maxed, but imo granite is ugly, hardly an improvement, and battle robes / dwarf helm arent worth a whole combat.

 

46 def > 50 def imo, unless you brid 24/7, then you might as well get it up to 50. However, don't forget that you'd have to recharge your battle robes quite often, which gets pretty annoying!

 

Get 50 defense and barrows gloves. PK with a berserker helm and granite instead of rune. Problem solved.

 

Thanks guys for your advice. I will end up getting 50 Defence. Granite is actually amazing versus rangers, and as a melee/magic hybrid, my weakness is range tanks! This will actually help out a lot!
