Very well built thread. I would even say you could go a little lower on the GPU since you don't plan on using any big games. This is a very respectable machine for your purposes.

I'd love that it were AMD based PC. But oh well.

Really nice. You could improve performance A LOT with a SSD as boot drive. 40GB< will do it :)

Pick the HD Noodles :) picked. I didn't look to hard for a drive since you said 500gb was fine, but this ones more for your money, so by all means, take it.

The optical drive he picked is fine, it's free shipping too. I dont remember if the other one was, but if it wasn't, pick that one.

Noodles :) picked a good power supply. Mine will save you slightly more power (electricity), but for the extra price. It's really up to you which one you pick, but his is just as adequate for your needs as mine. So if up front cost is an issue, go with his.

His GPU would also suit your needs. But at $30 more for mine, it would be a better deal if you're looking for something powerful. But since you're only going to be botting, you can go with his to save money.
    So this one - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130565

    What do you guys think?

exactly why I said the 460 in the end.
Optical drives don't matter to me. I have a million.

And, I wanted him to have the same case as me! =[ lol.

I was just looking for a cheap case and stumbled across the one I have. It's got plenty of room for HD's (I have 5 in it now) room for 4 opticals, (I have 3 now). And it's simple. I thought it would be perfect. In fact, noodles :), I want you to go buy the same case as me now. IT'll be cute.

Unless you need the Hyper-threading, an i5-2500K performs just as well for less.

Not true, you can expect to see about a 30% performance gain with the 2600k. But if you are looking for something cheaper, 2500k is the way to go.

I'd recommend some benchmark viewing if you think the 2600K is 30% better...Especially at tasks that can't take advantage of hyper-threading.

Benchmarks that included hyperthreading are included in those results, though it doesn't give the exact amount of which.

It may do 30% better in benches, but that's synthetic and not really what happens in the real world. The ONLY difference in 2500k vs 2600k is the extra 2MB L3 cache and the HT. 99.99999% of games don't use hyperthreading, some are even negatively impacted by it. The extra cache isn't a huge deal either. In a gaming situation, they perform pretty much identical, with the 2500k actually taking the lead in some scenarios.

If you'll be taking advantage of HT, then by all means go for the i7. If not, i5 is the way to go.

He's botting. I'm pretty sure the HT will help him.

Especially when running any sort of tasks at the same time.

It may not help with many games, but for multiple processes and any general multitasking it will be a good thing to have.

Wouldn't think some shit runescape bots would use HTing.
Go with the i5 2500k, and it'll save you $100.

I figured since it's not just one application, but multiple, that it would be able to utilize the virtual cores.

Not really... that's not how HT works lol. If a program is not optimized for HT, it will not utilize it (at least not well, anyway)

If you're not going to play games on it why are you spending so much money on it? Core i7, 16gb gddr5 all of those sound like gaming to me. And why buy a liquid cooling system? Are you going to be overclocking your cpu? And if you are, then why if you're not gaming? You can build a nice cheap quad-core system, air-cooled for just under $500.
