How long until 07RS dies?

Since the release of 07RS people have steadily stopped playing or converting over to EOC. Some people say its due to the "nostalgia" wearing off.

How long do you think it will be til 07RS dies/will it die?
Why do you think people are stopping to play it?

 

This all depends on the 2007scape users. If they can agree on updates to add we can get things such as GWD which would make the game last a bit longer. I think RuneScape as a whole is dieing.

 

i think most of people are stop playing 07 because they ran out of things to do because their aint much to do on 07 servers , to answer the other part if they continue to update and add new stuff base on what the player base want i can see it lasting a few more years at most

 

I'll give it till the end of summer...

 

if 07 dies, EOC will go to the ground as jagex won't be getting enough revenue

 

I give it a couple months, some people still only play it to convert 07 to eoc, at which the rate is going down

 

We'll see how long it lasts.

 

It will last, a lot of my EoC friends are starting to find time to play some 07, and I started too and am having a blast. I don't see it dying anytime soon.

 

i assume a lot of players will start this summer... the game got launched during schooltime (or university for me), and as soon as this year is over ill start to nolife the shit out of rs07, and im sure i am not the only one

This isn't true and you know it. It's clearly alive enough to not suddenly disappear within a few months. Use your brain buddy

Maybe till August, but yeah they need more updates the game is frozen in time and there are little to no changes..

 

When wrath of the lich king was released everyone spoke of world of warcraft's imminent demise.


When cataclysm released everyone stroked each other and nodded at the idea of the game laying on it's deathbed.


At mist of pandaria release, people finally learned to keep their mouths shut.



While the game has indeed lost a ton of players over the last few years, it is still going strong. You won't have a problem getting into a battleground there, selling on the auction house or finding an arena partner or raiding guild.




The reason I bring this up is because people love to sob and preach about subjects which they know nothing about yet allow themselves to fall under the idea they do know about it. It's extremely difficult to predict the future of 07, the right update can make the game flourish and vice versa. Everyone who reads this comment is going to die one day, everything in this reality is affected by time and as such the things we create will be affected by it and one day be obsolete. Try to spend your time enjoying 07 and riding the nostalgia wave instead of worrying, it leads to nothing but unnecessary stress=)

 

If GWD comes out, maybe a year or so.

 

Two years minimum, Jagex was projecting far fewer people to play, their reevaluation of the pricing shows that much. To everyone saying 'A few months', be realistic, there are 23k players online atm, and over 200k active users. Those numbers don't disappear in a few months. In addition to that, Jagex is advertising the servers as well. 07 won't cease to be active until RS as a whole completely kicks the can.

 

Could not have said it better myself. Let me add a caveat to that as well, even if the game becomes less populated...for many it is still just as fun. I certainly am fine with their being less kids at rock crabs who incessantly whine and complain. Having those cancerous players in the community was a thorn in my side for years. It's good to have a strong corps of veteran players who are usually willing to help out. That was unheard of in old Runescape, which has its pros and cons. The point I'm trying to make though is that even if it is less populated, I know it's still a load of fun (at least for me). So I'm just going to enjoy it. ^_^

 

Honestly, I don't think it will go for a while. I'll give this game a year of total play. Then, people will quit.
