New iPhone, any easy ways to unlock?

So I lost my last iPhone 4 on friday, and obviously I didn't want to tell my dad so I just went ahead and bought a new one. The thing is the phone is locked to O2, is there any way for me to unlock it easily, and maybe free? I live in UK if that's important.

It's not very hard, I had to unlock a phone to take my SIM (was origionally on O2) follow the link that Laptop posted usually takes I think 7-15 days if it didn't come with a sim you have to go to an O2 shop and get one, top up £15 then complete the form above.

 

No way to do it without paying? Jailbreaking? What if I phone up my network provider (3) and ask them to do it or something?

 

Only if you were on a contract with O2 for the fulfilled time which your not. I'm not sure about jailbreaking, but paying the money is the only legit way to do it unfortunately. People sell unlock keys on the internet but I do not have any clue on them. I would recommend getting it done properly.

I'm 90% sure you can Jailbreak your phone then use a tweak from Cydia to unlock it. If you want to find out more information just google something along the lines of "unlocking iphone with jailbreak"

 

Currently, a jailbreak hasn't been publicly released but I believe that someone has already managed to crack into the iPhone 5. You might need to wait a few weeks if you want to do it for free. Generally there are ways to unlock it through Cydia, but you're going to have to wait. Sorry!

 

He didn't say he had an iphone 5. He said iphone 4. Well he didn't exactly specify, but anyway.

Are there not ways to jailbreak an iphone 4?

you need blobs and with iOS6 there's only a tethered jailbreak.

 

It's all about software, not hardware. If he's on iOS 6, he can't really do much, I wouldn't recommend a tethered jailbreak.
