Need Ip Help

My 'friend' recently gave me an account, he didn't explain how he got it but it was legit. My ip is on it, i was wondering is there a way i can change that IP to completely anonymous so when i log in it shows a different ip to my current as i don't want any crap if he obtained it in a somehow bad manner.

 

They don't always display the ip publicly, for myself it only displays the host publicly.

 

If the hostname is default, you can easily deduce the IP address using the hostname.

Jmb, your easiest bet would be to log in from another router somehow. Changing your hostname is somewhat complicated, and logging into Runescape from a proxy has no effect. You can rent a VPN or VPS, but these have a little bit of a learning curve to know how to operate.

Even if you can't find a way to change it, I doubt your "friend" can do anything at all with the IP. The worst he can do is attack you with a botnet, but honestly that is extremely unlikely because DDoSing and doesn't accomplish much to a personal router other than trolling. It's also illegal.

 

Why don't you use a vps?

 

It's hard to play on VPS, frames per second is pretty bad.

Oh you won't get any crap. Tracing IPs for free isn't accurate and Jagex won't do anything about it tbh.
