Need help with a free account.

Hi folks,

I spotted someone at Burthope saying they were giving away an account with lots of 99s. I thought right away it's obviously a troll/scam. He did give me legit login details, but the account is a measly 1.6k total.

I'm curious to log in to it.. but at the same time.. why would he advertise 99s and then not have any.

Is there any way I could be hurt (have a negative on myself) by logging in to this account?

I know IP addresses used to be displayed, but I don't believe they are now.

What is he up to? :\

 

i dont think that he could steal any identifiable data from you that would present a risk to your computer security or anything but beware that he may "give" you the account right now, let you train it a bit and throw some money on it, and then he recovers it back.

I would not trust him. but yet again, there are some people out there that are just either 100% fed up or honest so who knows . go with your gut and be wise

 

He is proobaly giving it to you so you can "Train it" and then he can take it back and keep it, unless he also changes the email then hey, free account

 

Yeah my main is much, much better than it. I won't be playing it, I just want to go on and see if it had any wealth or anything.

Was worried in case it would have a negative impact on me.

EDIT: Ye, account really wasn't that good at all. Value was like 100k, and I bumped that to around 300k from keys. Meh.

 

Only way to get hurt is if you put wealth and training into it.

If you decide to put wealth on it, I'd transfer it off every time you log off.

 

Should've looked his stats up first. I'd keep it for now, change email + password a bunch of times + add any security you can to it. Wait a few months. Log in regularly, but don't train much of anything or put any gold/items on it. Wait to see what happens. I'd wait 3-6 months before I did anything serious on the account.

 

Wants you to train it and then recover it, most likely. Don't waste your time.

 

Either as above or it's a stolen acc and they're just passing it on after emptying it.

You get comfortable, put your bank on it, an hour later he recovers it.

 

Oh yeah.. I know that, my own account is far better anyway. I was just skeptical of logging into it in case they can grab information from me. I know IP addresses used to show, but I haven't played in like a year.

I lost 80m because I never knew about f2p trade limit when I started back, so I'm simply being cautious

 

With a total of 1600 it's not worth it to keep imo, Especially if there is a chance he will take it back.. Just bot on it for gold or something to put on your actual account, but don't put anything on the given account...
that way if he does take it back it'll be banned for botting and you can laugh at him for trying to trick you

 

Ticket the account to Jagex lol.

 

no IP is shown, he probably wants u to put gp onto it then recover it back.
