I'd like to correct something.

I was reading a "debate" me and swan had a week or so ago about VB. I wasn't saying that compiling code was encrypting, but when creating a .EXE in macro scheduler it automatically encrypts it.
Also, I'd like you to stop saying "Most people use VB.net". No you are wrong, Most people on this FORUM use it. On the outside world, Most people do NOT use it.

 

I would like to say, NO most people DO NOT USE VB. Any serious programmer will use VB .net.

 

Well, any serious programmer will use their language of choice efficiently. If your language of choice happens to VB, then the most efficient way of doing things is indeed to use VB .Net.

I'm a C++/C#/Java coder myself, so I'm all around.

Pwnography, just let it go. This is a forum, it isn't an egotistical matter unless you make it one. Furthermore, BASIC is old technology - Visual Basic .Net takes the BASIC syntax, but the language itself uses .Net to function. Also, not only is .Net more efficient, but it is also newer technology and is constantly updated and therefore is not deprecated. Did you know Microsoft is trying to ditch support for older versions of BASIC (including VB6)?

I have no personal argument with you, but your view on the BASIC language on the whole is a bit skewed.

 

I think that's quite the conflicting statement seeing as most people are not serious programmers.:noworry:

From what I've seen it seems that most hobbiests, and amateur programmers that have piddled in programming for several years use VB6 as they grew accustomed to it and just decided not to move on and learn something new before what they knew (VB6) stopped working or being useful.

While VB6 is still used in industry, VB.NET (and other .NET technologies) are rapidly growing in popularity and I would have to say that it has surpassed its predecessor.

Another thing that surprises me is how many of these industries are now using C# in their endeavours as it began native to Windows alone and was solely a Microsoft product. Maybe I won't be able to escape learning it after all...:laugh:

 

If you can use Java you can use C# without much study. I read a Java eBook, started to read a C# eBook and found out I already knew most of the contents.

 

This is obviously a case of who has a bigger penis, and you want people to know about it. Next time just use the PM system.
