    Need help building a computer

Hey, this is my first time trying to build a computer and I only have around $500-600 to spend

These are what I have so far

    CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

    HARD DRIVE - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136795
    OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769

    POWER SUPPLY - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017&Tpk=OCZ%20ModXStream%20Pro%20600W

    RAM - http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-240-Pin-Platforms-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1339481274&sr=1-

    CASE - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144267

    VIDEO CARD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121419

I need help picking a mobo and was wondering if anyone can give me suggestions. Also, I was wondering if the hardware I chose are good or not.

    Thanks in advance.

CPU - For the price tag, it's your best bet. Although Intel does have better processors generally, AMD wins in the $100 range.

HARD DRIVE - A solid choice, 500GB in a HDD is more than I'll ever need. You probably won't notice a difference between them, save yourself $5 if you'd like.

POWER SUPPLY - Seems fine, will suite your needs. Just hope it's not DOA.

RAM - 8 GB is nice, I'd go with this one instead http://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Ripjaws-1600MHz-PC3-12800-F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL/dp/B004HZG4ZO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3R89XP21YRLPL&coliid=I189CRBY6N203T, will save you money and same performance. (Unless you're totally fixed on the color scheme)

CASE - Looks fine, liking the nice green LEDs.

VIDEO CARD - Is really a nice GPU, excellent price to performance ratio.

MOBO: There's much of these out there, isn't exactly an easy choice picking one. I picked out a cheap $95 one, just as long as you don't get it DOA it seems to work fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-131-767&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2#scrollFullInfo. This is just a suggestion, I think you should look into some yourself until you find one that you think is going to work fine. Remember the mobo has to be a am3 or am3+ socket.

EDIT: Don't forget about picking up a DVD drive, here's your best bet: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204

Mite I add that a 400w power supply would be more than enough for that build.

Okay, thanks. I'll probably lower the power supply to save some cash then. How good do you guys think this will run?

Not bad I guess its basically the same thing my current computer is you will need a bigger Power supply though if your going to be running it at the higher end of its resources as it will run hot. I'd suggest a 800 watt I just did this very upgrade myself

You are however being way overpriced you can find a much better deal on ebay I bought my computer for 350 usd and my new 800 watt power supply was only 45$ where as urs is nearly double. I'd personally look around more before you get it.

Take a look at that.. What the person said above me doesn't make sense, you don't need a PSU that strong. Maybe if you had an i7 oc'd with a high end board and 2 sli'd GPU's, with a lot of peripheral hardware (sound card, extra hdd's, cd/dvd/bluray, etc)

I used the calc and it was about 450W, should I lower the battery or keep it incase I decide to upgrade?

Get a 600w PSU incase you decide to upgrade. Will be plenty.

actually if he has proper cooling etc. I believe this build would recommend a 680w psu. but if he ever wants to upgrade later he would have to upgrade his psu which would defeat the purpose especially when he is being overpriced on his psu he is wanting at the moment. Believe what you want but your site is appearently wrong because at 550w my computer would crash when it hit 85% load this running the same computer with 3 fans [4 if including the psu ] and 1 dvd drive. all of which [excluding the dvd drive] you will need to run this at full throttle without damaging it or atleast shortening its life span.
