What is stopping J-Mods from...

So question... What is stopping J-mods from searching these forums for cheating threads and selling threads. Collecting up IP's from those types of thread and checking on accounts linked to those IP's.

Now sure there are those who VPN and hide/ mask their IP's. But what about the users who haven't learned how to properly protect themselves from Jagex searches.

Now of course there are those who are NEW to botting and or haven't maybe read threads on how to avoid that and bot safely. Maybe they are just ignorant or got excited and tunnel vision on botting. This will lead to bans of course.

Along with the question this is also a reminder. We all may not be related but sythe users should be family and make sure everyone around them bots safely and has each others backs.

 

There's no way for them to get IPs from this forum unless a member of staff leaks it, which won't happen

 

I thought there was because, arn't you able to check members IP's to make sure they are not vaders or previous IP hoping

You can only gather IPs if you are a staff member on the forum.

Only thing stopping them is the time they'd waste doing this. They could hire someone on minimum wage to do it though.

 

True except they do have a team to monitor sites such as this it's no secret but are they IP hunting

 

No because they would rather implement detection programs to avoid someone doing it manually.

 

What stops that program from IP farming? and then a J-mod verifying?

 

It mustn't be an issue big enough for them to focus on.

 

Waste of time, aswell as due to the state of the game, I highly doubt it would be a wise business decision on their end to go out and hunt what remaining players they have left.

You get parts of the ip (endings), not all.
Last time I checked sythe is simply a forum according to the ToS and everything players discuss/sell falls under their responsibility. So jagex can't "demand" the owner (big rich) to give them any ips as they're confidential information.

Using that logic, they would be able to to go on all bot sites, gather ips and mass ban >_>.

 

1. Jagex cannot gain IPs from this website
2. Jagex employees are making salary.. Which means they are making the same amount regardless of how many hours they work, so Jagex wants to utilize their workforce as efficiently as they can. Under the theory of Opportunity Cost, Jagex loses money when they aren't being as productive as possible with their employees.
3. Jagex already does collect information from these forums. While it is rare, they do make manual bans from this information. Again, this is incredibly rare, and the only reason I know it happens is because it's happened to me.

 

Theyr not aloud to do it, plus Sythe is a small pea in the pot.

 

Only staff members can see IP addresses. It is quite easy to find rulebreakers in game without having to go to any cheating sites.

I doubt a 9-5 professional employee will trawl through websites to find IP's and skypes to ban kids from their game. RSPS staff do it because they're just children themselves and don't have anything better to do.

 

Not all are bad Roary but some are pretty stupid.
