That's an orb of occulus. It's from a contest held in 2010. You can buy one in the desert from one of the vendors.

 

where and does it do anyhting?

 

It's from Alkharid, the shop is just west of the palace, and the guy who sells it's name is Farqu (Not sure how to spell it) and it's used for zooming in on things, and it also allows you to find some hidden locations.

 

Just paid a visit to this shop- very interesting, i had no idea about any of these 'tools'.

Yea finding hidden areas is fun. I can see ocean from Baba Yaga's house.
There are plenty of hidden places to find - you just gotta look on Youtube for some of the more "famous" ones.
