Getting free DLC/Games

I've seen quite a bit of talk of this on the internet but I'm not 100% sure how it works, from what i gather is it like this?

Player 1 has cod maps
Player 2 doesn't

player 1 lets player 2 recover his gamer tag, play 2 re-downloads the cod maps from the profile, then player 1 re-recovers his gamertag.

now are both players able to use the cod maps?

I also heard something about a license transfer, could someone elaborate, because i recently got a new xbox and had to redownload all my games and DLC onto it, and i didn't have to do anything regarding a license transfer...

 

I did this a while back, but with a GoD game. Its quite a handy trick to save money but its a complete pain in the arse as you have to sign into the mule account then back onto your own. I'm not too sure how it works with another friends account though.

 

Player 1 has no maps
Player 2 does.

Player 1 Recovers player 2s account.
Player 2 now on ur Xbox you License Transfer the content you want.
Re download the Content on player 2 to Player 1s xbox.

Once Download is complete sign out of Player 2 and sign into Player 1.
Now maps/Dlc is on ur whole Xbox and any account you use will be able to access the DLC.

 

I thought this didn't work anymore? also what do you mean by license transfer

Every item you buy from Xbl
(DLC)
Has a license to the xbox you downloaded it to.
When you do this you are simply transferring the License to a different xbox.

Allowing the dlc to be used on a different xbox.

Ex; say you sold ur xbox or it broke. You would not want to loose all your DLC that you Payed hard earned $ for.

 

After doing this is player 2 still able to use the DLC as well?

It's extremely easy to do. All you need is 2 controllers, the dummy account, and the account you want to download the DLC on.

 

When you buy a mappack the pack is available for everyone on the xbox, if you recover someones gamertag with the map pack bought you can download it on your xbox HD. then he can recover it back. Theres also other more illegal methods of getting mappacks using a usb drive.

 

Basically me and a friend want to license transfer each other so we can download the things the other one has. we bother recovered each others gamertag and downloaded some games we had, but when we signed out and onto our own gamer tags they didn't work anymore. (we didn't license transfer)

so if we did license transfer each other, would it mean we could both still use the content? or only one...

 

Thats the Problem.
Need to LT in order for the DLC to stick.
Downloading it will only keep it there for the account u did it on.

you should be able to license transfer any downloadable from your friend but it can only be done once a year from his xbox. or thats what ive been told

 

you should just liscence transfer and they could use any dlc from you

 

I purchased a guide about a year ago regarding this, and what you just posted was exactly it. Damn, I wasted a few bucks
