Need help for MM, friends stuck on it ~help plz?~

Lots of people have done mm, im quite sure, but my friend is stuck on it. He is at the part where you have to talk ot Karam, near the monkey ranger dudes that throw stuff at you, and hit like 15's.

Every time my friend talks to Karam, it says " He is too busy to talk " or something like that. Every single time. And so he stands there for about 5 mins, usin protect from range, trying to talk to Karam.

Anyone know why he isn't able to talk to karam? Help please.
