N4n0's 2nd PC build (Progress Pics)

This isn't my system, I'm building it for a friend. It's similar to my build, he copied portions of it. Will post progress pics if anyone's interested in seeing

Looks like a great build. What i7 is that? I cant see it on my phone.

 

Core i7 970

 

Any reason for the 970 over say the 3930k or even the 3770k?

 

None in particular. It's just what looked to me at the time when I bought it. He just ended up copying my build because he was lazy.

 

RAM and CPU Seated. Power Supply in chassis.

Taking my sweet time with this build. I'm in no rush, it's an easy $100. Why not enjoy it.

 

Is It an i7 with one core?

How long it usually takes you to build one?is't Worth the 100$?

 

It's a hexacore. And if I rushed through it, I could probably finish in half an hour, if that, but I'm taking my sweet time. I enjoy building PC's so I'm not in any rush to finish it. And yeah. Easiest $100 I've ever earned.

 

6 cores with 12 hyperthreads, which if the software supports hyper threading and multiple cores, is like having 12 cores.

 

This right here, Is why I need a job. The PC I'd build with over £1000..

 

Builds done, but he didn't supply me with an optical drive, so I can't install windows. Overclocked the CPU a modest amount since he's on air cooling, configured is BIOS, and called it good. Here's completed pics. Wiring was somewhat of a rush job, but he's already told me he couldn't care less about the wiring.

 

If you have a 8GB flash drive there is some programs to take your windows disk and create a windows installation usb drive. Cant remember the name of them.

 

Don't have a flash drive large enough, or I would have done that. My biggest flash drive is a 4gb.

 

I7 proccessor(Ivy bridge would've been killer) with triple channel ram, the 6970, and 1000w psu? Tasty. I'm a computer builder enthusiast myself, and hopefully looking to pursue some kind of career in it(fingers crossed).

$100 just to build a computer? Sheesh, I'd take my sweet time too.

 

Couple of questions.

Any reason not to get ivy/sandy bridge?
Any reason not to get 7xxx or 6xx graphics cards? Did you get those used or something?

 

Got a question for you. Are you aware that this isn't my PC? And did you even read the part about me saying that this build's for a friend? All I did was build it. He chose what he chose because he wanted it. That's all I can really say. I cannot say for sure why he chose what he did.

Edit: I'd also like to add, he's been sitting on these components for months. He's just been too lazy to complete the build, which is why he paid me to do it.

Easy $100. I'm not complaining.

Actually just did a little double checking. Turns out that Win7 is only 3 gigs. Score.

 

Nice build! I thought windows 7 was 4 7GB for some reason, guess not. Also is there any extra HDD than the ssd? That 128GB will go by pretty fast for your friend.
