    MySpace Pimpin’

    Starting a Hotmail Email, Starting MySpace, and Adding a MySpace Background
    Part 1 of 4 of MySpace Pimpin’

    Welcome, I am Deacon Frost, and you need help with your MySpace! Well, I am here to bring you help you need in four VERY detailed guides this month. Every Sunday I will release a new guide involving the MySpace Pimpin’ Process. By the end of April, you will have the ability to create the greatest MySpace page in history!

    Part 1 -=- Getting a Hotmail Email Address
    Part 2 -=-Getting a MySpace
    Part 3 -=-Changing Account Settings, and Deleting Messages/Friends
    Part 4-=-Finding a background
    Part 5-=-Installing a chosen background without the white
    Part 6-=-Other Websites

    Part 1 -=- Getting a Hotmail Email Address

    As many of you may already have a hotmail email address, it is better to be safe, than to be sorry. So here is a quick tutorial on how to sign up for a new email address. The email I use in this guide will be used in all 6 parts and in all 4 guides.

    First off go to http://www.hotmail.com and click the sign up button.
    [IMG]
    Then after you click the sign up button, click the free account option.
    [IMG]
    Once you have determined your account type, it is time to set up your email. Most prefer to choose a simple email address, others prefer longer because they believe it protects them more. I personally prefer email address’ that are short, because they are harder to copy, and less easy to fake someone out with. Also, your friends can add you easily if it is shorter.
    [IMG]
    After you have filled in your details, then click accept. Congratulations, you now have an email address in hotmail.

    Part 2 -=- Getting a MySpace

    Getting a MySpace is just as simple as getting your hotmail email address. Simply go to http://www.myspace.com and find the sign up button.
    [IMG]
    After you click that you will be prompted to fill in your details. Simply follow the guidelines, and fill it all in.
    [IMG]
    When you have finished filling in your details, you will have to enter a confirm code. These can be tricky, but just keep refreshing the image by clicking the button next to it if you can’t solve it.
    [IMG]
    After putting in the confirm code correctly, you will be sent to upload your first picture.
    [IMG]
    I chose this picture:
    [IMG]
    Once you upload your first picture, you will be prompted to invite your friends to MySpace. Since I myself hate people “nudging” me to join sites, I won’t inform you on how to do it. So click skip for now, or do as you wish.
    [IMG]
    After you do that, you will be sent to this page:
    [IMG]
    Congratulations, you have created your MySpace. Now it is time to get to work on fixing it up.

    Part 3 -=- Changing Account Settings, and Deleting Messages/Friends

    First off, your profile sucks. Just look at this:
    [IMG]
    You wouldn’t want ANYONE seeing that. So, on your home page click the Account Settings option highlighted in the picture below:
    [IMG]
    Here is where EVERYTHING in your MySpace core is edited. This is not your profile; this is your account, period.
    [IMG]
    On the left hand sides you see the various categories (all will be covered in later guides.) Right now click the one that reads “Privacy Settings”.
    [IMG]
    Once you have that, change the top part that says who can view your profile to friends only. Scroll down, and click “Save Changes” or something to that effect.
    Now go back to your home page. You would notice that if you scroll down you have Tom as a friend, and you have new messages in your inbox. First great piece of advice: Tom is a loser. So let’s delete him, and the email he sent because it is just taking up YourSpace.
    Click the inbox and you will see:
    [IMG]
    Simply select the email, and click delete. It will then go to your trash, and will be deleted after 30 days. (All other forms of this area will be covered in further guides)
    To delete him from your friends, on your home page near his picture in a orange-like box you will see the option to “Edit Friends”. Click that.
    [IMG]
    Again, just tick the little box next to his picture, and click delete.
    And there you have just made your MySpace so much cooler.
    Now you need to confirm that the email you used is yours, and set up your own personal URL link to your profile.
    Let’s start by getting a URL. So on your home page, find this:
    [IMG]
    Click that and you will be prompted to enter your URL choice, and confirm it.
    [IMG]
    You will then be sent to a page to verify your real name.
    [IMG]
    After you put in your details, a confirm page will tell you what you just put in.
    [IMG]
    Now it’s time to verify your email. So return to your home page and find this:
    [IMG]
    MySpace will ask you if you want to contact customer support (right button) or verify your email (left button). Click the one that send you to your email verification.
    [IMG]
    Once you click that button it will tell you this:
    [IMG]
    Now go back to hotmail, and in your inbox will be two emails from MySpace.
    [IMG]
    Click the one that is most recently sent. It is what will confirm your email address. Inside will be a link, once you click that link you will be informed that it is verified.
    [IMG]
    Good job, now you can begin working on your profile!

    Part 4 -=- Finding a background

    To find a background you can go to MANY different sites. For beginners I recommend http://bigoo.ws . I started with bigoo, and for simple backgrounds it is really the best.
    [IMG]
    Go into the area of background categories once in bigoo.
    [IMG]
    As you can see, there are TONS of background styles available. You can find backgrounds that are animated, to backgrounds that appear animated, to backgrounds of, well…anything.
    I chose the “Write” category, and found this:
    [IMG]
    I chose to use it. The code that is highlighted is all you need. Simply copy and paste it into your profile edit page which is found on your home page above account settings.
    [IMG]
    http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s68/uedeacon/ProfileEditInterestsandPersonalitie.jpg[/IMG
    [IMG]http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s68/uedeacon/PuttingBackgroundIn.jpg
    Click save changes and view your profile. With this code you will see:
    [IMG]
    There you have successfully added a background. However, all of the white is not normally desired. If that is what you want, you are done here with backgrounds. If you wish to eliminate all of that white, then read on.

    Part 5-=-Installing a chosen background without the white

    Now it’s time for your adventures to lead you to http://strikefile.com/myspace/ .
    [IMG]
    Strike File is the base of all your needs. It will allow you to edit your profile easily and quickly. We will use this in further tutorials, but for right now we are fixing the background and tables(borders only for now).
    [IMG]
    That is the background page. To get the URL for the background that you are currently using take the code, and find the image. To do this you must break down the code itself.
    Code:
    <br><center><a href="http://www.bigoo.ws"><img src="http://images.bigoo.ws/content/loghi/logo1.gif" border="0"></a><body background="http://images.bigoo.ws/content/background/write/write_31.gif"><br></center>
    That is the code that is currently being used. However, most all of it is not needed. First off, half of it is advertisement that is simply used by the website to show their property.
    Code:
     <a href="http://www.bigoo.ws"><img src="http://images.bigoo.ws/content/loghi/logo1.gif" border="0"></a>
    That is the advertisement in the code. “<a>” = advertisement. So bring up a notepad, and copy your original bigoo background code. Then delete that part.
    With that deleted, that leaves only one URL. That makes this code very simple to extract the image. Take the remaining URL:
    Code:
     http://images.bigoo.ws/content/background/write/write_31.gif
    And put it in the background URL section in the Strike File background web page. Then change it to “tile down and across page” in the second drop menu below the URL entry.
    Now you need to edit the tables so there are no borders. So click the “tables” tab at the top.
    [IMG]
    Where it reads “Borders” and “Do you want to change the borders?” select “yes” in the drop down menu. Wait for it to load, and then change the “border style” to “no borders”.
    Once you have done that, click the code tab at the top. The code you will get for this image is:
    Code:
     <Style type="text/css" source="http://www.strikefile.com/" author="Thomas Zwaagstra">
    table, tr, td{
    background-color:transparent;
    border-style:none;
    }

    body{
    background-image:url(http://images.bigoo.ws/content/background/write/write_31.gif);
    background-position:top left;
    background-repeat:repeat;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    }

    body, div, p, strong, td, .text, .blacktext10, .blacktext12, a.searchlinkSmall, a.searchlinkSmall:link, a.searchlinkSmall:visited{
    font-weight:normal;
    font-style:normal;
    text-decoration:none;
    text-transform:none;
    }

    table table table, div table table{
    border-style:none;
    border-width:1px;
    }

    table table table table, div table table table{
    border-style:none;
    }

    A IMG{
    border-style:none;
    }
    a </Style> I edited my profile with <A href="http://www.strikefile.com/myspace" target="_blank">Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4</A>
    Now remember, “<a> = advertisement”. So really this part of the code
    Code:
     I edited my profile with <A href="http://www.strikefile.com/myspace" target="_blank">Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4</A>
    Is obviously an advertisement. If you wish to keep it, that is fine, but if you don’t want it, you can delete it.
    Now go back to here:
    [IMG]
    And delete what is there. Then paste the new code you got from Strike File.
    Click save settings, and VIOLA!
    You have turned this:
    [IMG]
    Into this:
    [IMG]
    And finally, into this:
    [IMG]

    That looks so much better!

    Part 6 -= - Other Websites

    Now, MySpace editors are ALL over the web and are easily found. Simply pull up Google and look for “MySpace Profile Editing” or something to that effect. You are guaranteed to find one if you look. In later guides I will be covering the basics, but for this week, some good places to look for backgrounds are:
    http://www.satanspace.com
    http://www.pimpmyspace.com
    http://www.freemyspacebackgrounds.net
    And many more…
    Just look for some, because a lot of them will not have what you are looking for. To find the perfect background that suits you, you have to look really hard.
