Looking to Get a New Desktop Computer

Yeah, I'm looking to get a new desktop to work on. I'll be mainly using it for Runescape biz, so it needs to be able to have 50-60 MSN conversations going, run Runescape very smoothly, along with a bunch of other applications at once. I'm Canadian, so I'm looking to buy from a Canadian site. I am useless at building computers / anything technical, so it needs to come assembled.

Right now I'm looking at this: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4011760&CatId=2630

Remember that's priced in CAD, so it's approx 900 USD. What do you guys think? I'm very open to suggestions because I'm not exactly a computer whiz. Thanks.

I took a quick glance, and it should be more than good enough for what you plan to use it for...

Buy something similar. Most gaming computers would work. $1000 sounds reasonable for a good one.

eBay is where I always go when in search of computer stuff. I did a quick search for something in your price range: here.

Edit: most of the items there are from the USA.

If you won't really be playing many games, go for a 64-bit processor and stack on the RAM. You can have a max of about 4GB RAM on 32-bit and 64-bit can handle up to 128GB of RAM - which is essential to run multiple tasks. So, if you won't be gaming on this computer, here are some rough specs;

Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor (more cores, the better for what you're trying to do)
As much RAM as you can buy (pretty expensive, though I don't see anyone needing over 10GB of RAM, probably not even that)
Windows Vista Home Premium/Ultimate 64-bit (handles up to 128gigs of RAM on 64-bit, though resource-hog-much)
Video & sound cards up to you, you wouldn't really need great ones anyway.

Also try getting a large monitor, or you can use hardware to plug your tower into something like a Plasma/LCD TV which will help you alot if you're going to have that many convos open.

EDIT: If you really want that computer you're looking at right now, look at getting more RAM. Running that many applications, RuneScape and over 50-60 MSN convos needs a bit more than 2GB RAM.

Looking to Get a New Desktop Computer

I recommend buying pcs from Hewlett-Packard (hp) my mom bough one of those touch screen computers for the kitchen and it works wonders for the job it does, don't think it's what your looking for but it sure is fun to use, my pc and laptop is made by them, its easy to upgrade, if you not doing any gaming, but running a ton of apps get more ram, 4+gb, games; get a better gc.

That looks good, I have that same video card and it runs runescape on HD good WITHOUT anti aliasing though.

It seems that the motherboard on that computer supports SLI too, so you could run 2 video cards at combined power.

I'll say though, that computer will probably fit your needs.

50-60 MSN Conversations going at once?

Damn.

Anyway, I think what you got there, or what Nullware suggested, both look great.
