You don't need a specific host for vBulletin. As long as they have fairly new PHP, and MySQL then you should be fine. The script though costs around 200 dollars, unless you have other means of getting it. ;]

Yep, depends though sometimes you can get free hosts, but they are slower most of the time. Try Hostgator, or godaddy, or a smaller company that doesn't use as many domains on a server.

    I'd advise going here:

    http://dompons.com

and get great hosting for a penny.

vBulletin license's cost $160, and you can often get it installed on your server for free/a small fee.

A forum is no different than any other script, it just requires a server to run on. Some servers and hosts are better than others, however, so make sure you browse around before settling down. You don't wanna get stuck with a bad host, and end up having to transfer all of your data.

    GL.

I'd suggest invisionfree as it has a much better feel. Plus adding ranks on phpbb was annoying(for me).

Yeah I don't really wanna use phpbb, so its invisionfree or ikonboard.

Is there a difference between them really?

Well, I haven't used Ikonboard, so I can't really say anything about it. Although here's a forum using Ikonboard, so maybe you could pick one out. http://www.fretsonfire.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?

Try using SMF (Simple Machine Forums). For small forums, that's your best bet. It's got several plugins, easy to use, friendly... etc.

All you need is normal Shared Hosting from any company/resller and make sure it has php 4.6 or something enabled. Make sure its the latest.

MySQL is also needed on the server.

I can help you out with this, add my msn. [email protected]
