    My take on education

I find that you can't judge a persons intelligence in math untill they are much older.

When kids are in school, a lot of their brains aren't prepared to handle subjects such as math and physics till a later age.

Noone is truly stupid, say they don't get the material at a young age, but they look back at it whe they have gotten older. They would realize that omg.. this shit is so easy.

or there could be a critical period for things such as this and learning it as a child is more beneficial than learning it later.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_period

also, you only view it as simple later because you have learned more and built on that past stuff, making it seem basic.

but if you do not learn the basic math to begin with you will not find it easy as you age.
look at anybody who never learned basic math, they struggle with it as an adult as much as when they were a child.

    My take on education

What i was meant was that, i noticed when i was in highschool, a lot of my friends struggled with math 11/12. Once they took those math courses again in university 2nd year, they found it extremely easy.

So the grades you get in courses like math in highschool, don't actually reflect your capabilities.

    This would be called 'Relearning'.

It can also be attributed to the fact that your brain has developed immensely. Some mathematics require a form of logic, critical thinking. Some people's brains will never develop to be able to handle complex forms of this task; trigonometry in maths requires such logic, as do many other forms.

Yes, but.. what i am saying is that highschool is not an accurate depiction of one's intelligence.

When kids are called stupid, it's not because they're dumb, it's because they don't try.

    That's my take on schooling.

That's because you already studied that course before and it is way easier when you study it again.

    My take on education

Education is knowledge that builds up by experience. One can use memory to remember the answers to a test but one can't depend on that by itself. On the other hand, long term memory is the key to a successful education.

I think I understand what you're saying, and I agree. But I also have to point out that college is not an accurate depiction of ones intelligence either. It all has to so with how you apply yourself. If you apply yourself in the wrong areas or ways, then you are bound to fail. Anyway... Grades don't reflect anything besides the fact you knew how to answer the questions and applied yourself to study. Some of the smartest and successful people never even went to college.

Some are better than others at any age. I agree that people develop in different times and some people require a lot of math to understand physics and some just understand it almost immediately.

What exactly is education? To me it just seems a task of creating performing monkeys who do well in exams. I don't really get it.
