    Laptop or Desktop?

    So here's the thing.

I need to buy a computer.
If I buy a notebook computer, I'll probably be spending enough money on one to build a decent gaming desktop. But the thing is, I'm not much of a gamer. I occasionally play some battlefield 3 and popular games upon release like the CoD series or games by Bethesda but most of the time, I'm on the internet or doing something with CAD or 3d software. Thus, I wont be building a gaming computer and would save more money.

But if I buy a laptop, I'll be able to carry it around most places and maybe take it to cafes or libraries for my schoolwork, but that would happen about as much as I'm playing games. Not much

If you guys were in my shoes, what would you do?

Well, first off do you have a budget in mind?

I think at this point I would go with a laptop. Depending on your budget you can buy a laptop that will play some recent games for ~$800. The laptop is also mobile, and is just easy. Sure, laptops will give you less performance than a desktop, but the pro's outweigh the cons now in your situation right now I believe.

In your situation, i'd go for a laptop, you don't really need a desktop as you dont game much and a laptop is more compact and accessible for you. Plus, the price of a laptop wont be as high as a desktop.

I would attempt to help more, but I don't really follow all of the gaming laptops that much, sorry:p

If you do plan on buying/building the desktop however, I am always here lol.

Make sure you do your research before you buy a laptop. Look at some reviews, the pros and cons and make sure your getting the best deal you can. Don't buy say a hp laptop for $800 if there's a dell laptop with the same specs/features for $700 (That's just a example), know what I mean? I'd also suggest you stay away from alienware unless money isn't a problem at all.

    Go for a desktop
In the long run they last a lot longer, and if you don't need the laptop for school, you would be better off with a desktop for the times you play games
If you need something to take to school, obviously the laptop is a better choice
