Sounds console gaming is being destroyed. The Nintendo Wii is going to be the only thing left at this rate.

Another reason to get a PC I suppose, I won't be going anywhere near the next generation of consoles.

 

You could look at it two ways.

1. They took out the patent as it is in their interest to use the technology in their products.

2. They patented it so that nobody else is stupid enough to use the technology in their products.

 

I just think it'll be shit, I'll have to buy more games for my Wii U,
and they're expensive and there's not many good ones out yet.

But seriously hopefully now they've heard all the shit feedback they're probably like "scratch that" lol.

 

I think thats cool and annoying at the same time. I'm sure if parents didn't want that feature it wouldn't be hard to just not enable it?

Yeah I know but apparently there won't be an option to turn it off. So it's on permanently whether you say your kid can watch it or not.

Looks like kids are gonna have to start using masks to watch 18+ content now.

 

How would it work though? my console would be on the floor and it wont be able to see me with the light off etc, I think they'd have to pull off something so shit for this to even work.

I'm guessing it will look at facial features etc to determine how old you are, but what if you look younger than you are? It's the most stupid thing I've ever heard. They shouldn't have the decision of whether your children watch a film with you, they have nothing to do with that. Paying £400 for a console that your kids can't even play on is absolutely stupid. I think we should sign a petition tbh.

 

You could just not buy it, and do something else with your life.

If this actually goes through then the console market is going to get raped big time, either that or everyone migrates to the Wii.

 

I think paying £400 for a console is a stupid act in itself. Consoles are limited and are not worth £400 in my opinion, a PC would be a much better option for £400 and would still play most of the games with the same or better graphics than a console.

 

Good luck getting a £400 computer to run games with good graphics.

 

They also planned to do this with PS3 and PS2. It didn't work. There's no way this will ever work. Xbox and PC gaming will benefit if this does happen.
