My computer backed itself up

I woke up today and found that my computer is just like the first day I got it. All my programs, all my files, gone. I really have no idea what happened, it wasnt a virus. Fuck my life.

is there anyone who could have done it as a sick twisted joke?
things like this dont JUST happen :/ approx how many gigs of software u lose?

 

I think i got the fictor virus, which vista reacts to by going to factory settings. No idea how much I lost but my brother lost a lot of school work and I lost a good bit of my programs for work.

 

are you sure you logged on to the correct login?mabye you accidently logged into guest or something...
A virus can't really revert your computer to a 'new' window state

 

The fictor virus pretty much kills everything on your computer. Which vista restores itself as soon as you get it. I only have one profile thing on my computer, no guest.

 

ummm, i jus searched what the symptoms of conficker worm does...

 

maby the power cord got pulled in a weird way? i had a computer get wiped once like you did and i think it was because of that

 

Can't you try to do a systemrestore? Maybe your computer still has the backup files.

 

Vista doesn't restore itself back to factory just because you got a virus. If every computer did that, no one would bother having a computer.

 

A virus that destroys your computer, yes I think they might have a way to prevent it. This was draggin's guess to what happened. If you come up with a better solution say it, otherwise don't judge.

 

It would just destroy your computer to where you couldn't access anything, it wouldnt restore it back to factory. A computer maker would be idiotic doing this, because most virus's you can remove without reformatting, which will result in lot's of angry customers once they lose 3 years of gained software and files.

 

Then tell me what happened.
