    V-Bulletin

Hello.. I was wondering how to make a V-Bulletin forum, because the one i'm on right now is great and organized. I'm not saying i'm leaving this forum, but i'm just wondering how to make one like this in the future. If someone could help me, that would be nice.

EDIT- I Went To The Vbulletin Website And It Said The Forum Costs Like $300?! Could You Pay Monthly Or Something?

I'm sure there are hosting solutions that will include a monthly package with vBulletin. You can with IPB anyway.

You either have to pay like 180$ ;\ or get a nulled version I think, which is illegal.

If you don't want to pay there are free alternatives which are good enough for a small forum.

phpBB and SMF are too examples.

There trying to help you because it seems you obviously cant afford it, learn some manners.

The only way to get it cheaper is to buy a license off someone else or find a hosting plan.

    Steps:

    1. Purchase vbulletin license
    2. find hosting that has PHP + MYSQL
    3. create a new MYSQL database
    4. Upload the Vbulletin files to the server via FTP
    5. Modify the configuration file to match the server settings (host, MYSQL user and password)
    6. run the Vbulletin installer
    7. Modify your style and forum tittles and categories to your liking.

    Just a few points:
As stated above IPB does provide hosting with a limited license, however VBulletin does not allow anyone to resell their licenses so a license will have to be purchased from them (Or a used license)

Do not pirate vbulletin, here is what happens:
Some people modify the configuration files to either call back to their own server and no vbulletins so they will get all your configuration information (server log in or MYSQL passwords) and can attack your bulletin board once it's big enough. (I have personally seen this done before on a downloaded pack of Vbulletin nulled)

Vbulletin will be notified if you have a nulled version of the product, either by a person who visits your website or the host it's self, they will be forwarded all information you provided (yes, even free ones)

I purchased a yearly license (Before the release of Vbulletin 4.0) and when the year expired I had lost interest on the forum (as it was not doing so well) and I was contacted 3 months later by a lawyer ready to sue if I did not remove the product immediately.

vBulletin is the most commercially used forum software, but you should really try out free alternatives as stated above. If you ever decide to purchase vBulletin, there is an upgrade tool to convert your existing forum software to be compatible.

The main thing you need is web hosting. Internet forums don't take up much bandwidth unless you have a larger forum, which is why it's good to go with the cheapest hosting plan a company has in order to start. You can always upgrade your plan to meet your hard drive and bandwidth requirements. Plans can be as cheap as $.99 a month and go higher. If you purchase website hosting with 'cPanel' install, there is a application called Fantastico that will completely install the software for you.

You will also need a domain name. When you purchase your web hosting, you will be offered a free subdomain such as yourdomain.godaddy.com. That's very unprofessional so you should purchase a yourdomain.com which will run you about $10 a year. Popular places to get these are Godaddy.com or Enom.com.

It should. They seem a bit expensive though. I would suggesting going with a well-known company such as HostGator.com. They have monthly plans starting at $4.95 and offer a $100 Google Adwords voucher which is used to buy advertising on Google's search pages.
