    Looking to upgrade my processor.

    Budget: $100-$150

Looking to upgrade my computers processor but my budget is not that high. I need it to be able to play most of the current games, but it doesn't have to be max settings quality. Anything is better than my current dual core. The mobo is an AMD chipset if that helps. A group of my friends want to play some graphics intensive games and I tried one (tomb raider) and I couldn't even play on low settings as it maxed out my processor. I am looking to pick this up today so any help would be great. I just upgraded my graphics card last paycheck so i am covered there. I have a tiger direct nearby so that's where I will be going.

Know I have a stock Amd mobo but that's all I got to see before work. The computer itself is roughly 2 years old.

I think you actually have a FM1 socket and not an AM3+ socket, as your current processor a model which uses FM1. That kind of puts you into a difficult position, since the FM1 socket is pretty much outdated now with FM2 and AM3+ being used for the new processors.

This is probably the best you can get for FM1 :

    Looking to upgrade my processor.

Essentially I am building my new one. One piece at a time. The only thing that will be left stock is the case when I am done as it is quite roomy for a mid tower.

I am on the hunt for a new Mobo and power supply atm. Any suggestions?

Running with the same budget as before.

a new MOBO and PSU will set you higher than $150 :/

Just a 750W PSU will cost you around $110 Here,

and you really do need a 600-750W psu incase you want a high power PC you will need it. And what do you need on the MOBO? What games are you looking to play, because most basic games can be played with 4gb of RAM on med settings

OF COURSE you can't play games with any settings worth mentioning without it looking like a 6 fps slideshow.... You're using integrated graphics. While yes, your processor is not the most powerful thing around, and it will bottleneck you in a few games, the processor is not the reason for your problems. Save the money on the CPU upgrade.....install a graphics card. You're using onboard graphics. Make sure your factory power supply can handle the additional load from a GPU, and go that route. Leave your mobo alone. Not necessary either. Everyone here's always so willing to piss other peoples money away unnecessarily. Save your money and revive that thing like I said.
Do that, and Ill put 100$ that you'll be :
    1. Able to play tomb raider rather fluidly, amongst other games. your CPU will bottleneck slightly in some games, but its not going to make ANY game unplayable. This means you might get 45-50 fps at max settings instead of 60 on another computer with same GPU n upgraded CPU.big whoopee
    2. Glad you listened to me
    3. Much happier with your pc investment/savings

    Looking to upgrade my processor.

As far as what I have upgraded, this is what has been upgraded from the stock components.

RAM is 8 gigs of Rip Jaw harvested from my old build.

These were components my grandfather had laying around his house so I snatched them up as they were 10x better than their stock equivalents.

My basic needs for this build is for it to be able to handle the gameplay and streaming simultaneously. It is causing my cpu to bottleneck trying to do both atm and its slowing down performance wise.

I am willing to spend what I have to in the long run to get a pc that I am happy with. At some point, I have to rebuild my grandfathers pc back to its original specs so he can have it back xD

By that time, I should have all the parts to what is essentially a new computer.

Budget by friday may expand to about $300 due to pay day :D
