I'm sorry to hear that, I can't imagine having to say goodbye to a family member :( What happened?

I've heard you talking about this mysterious 'girlfriend' quite often before and she sounds like a pain in the arse!

You obviously enjoy talking to women, so do you think that maybe you get a little too close to other women and in turn, it causes your girlfriend to become a crazy, jealous psycho? Or is she just denying you your right to have healthy friendships with other people, women included?

Most painful event/situation you have lived through?

When I was about 4, My alchoholic dad (Who is now dead ) Decided to take me and my sister (left my 2 brothers) into a neighboring town to do laundry...it was like midnight, so yeah he was smashed.

Anyway as a child we were quite poor and of course we were driving some old pos that couldnt make it up the hill. We were getting closer up top and could not make.

So he decided to open the door, stick one foot on the ground and try to back down the hill, my sister who was about 13 at the time got out of the car to make sure he didnt back into the enbankment, but as he was backing up the brakes on the car went out and out went the drunk, under the front drivers side tire and got dragged a little bit, he was beat up pretty bad, but not hurt. I was in the front passenger seat, screaming my head off, rolling down a hill ( A huge one, called Javine hill) and i eventually hit a rock and stoped at the bottom ( i dont recall all the details, but my family told me, along with the cops and ambulance that arrived.

Well long story short, I was terrified of amusement park rides for ever because of this, Particulary roller coaster for a long time. Like until i was 16 or so and I had a better knowing of how life worked and all that. My dad died about 5 years ago, This drew little emotion from me as he was kinda a stranger

Wow, that is quite a story man.

I am sorry to hear about your Dad passing away and how you guys were quite distant from one another. I was hoping your Dad would have learned his lesson after that incident and would subsequently seek help for his alcohol addiction.

Has this affected you in any other ways, other than being terrified of amusement park rides (it sounds like you are no longer scared of these anymore)? How do you feel when you see other alcoholic parents, or older men who are drunks and may have children? Does this make you think at all about what sort of parent you want to be when you eventually have children, and the kind of relationship you would want to have with your son?

Forgive me if those questions are too invasive, you don't have to answer :) I am just curious to see other ways this traumatic event has affected you. Thankyou for sharing your story!

Yea, I got over the phobia of amusement park rides after I got tired of an event which i had no control over, regulate what I participate in with my friends. The state fair is a pretty big deal around here and I was tired of the kid just standing back not being a kid, You only have 1 childhood/teen years.

Even though Alchahol effected my life pretty bad, I dont look down upon it or tell people it is dumb, Because its not a bad thing. Some people just dont know when to stop and that is how it turns into something bad, just like everything else..Its all about what you want it to turn into.

I absolutley despise drunks who are just careless. Awhile back I was paying for my gas at the station and some guy comes in shit faced and i happen to look out at his truck and his ~5 year old son is sitting in the front seat... Idiot, the clerk actually called the cops.

Apart from my mother worrying that I may to become and alchoholic (My dad was a 3rd generation alchy) it hasnt cause me much trouble. It made me who I am today and I wouldnt change that for anything.

You sounds like a very mature, responsible person. I am glad to hear that despite the negative effect alcohol has had on your life, that you don't let that negativity consume you and control your life. Good for you man :)

Just so you know - there is alot of speculation that alcoholism and addiction are genetic traits that are passed down through families, so you may unknowingly be genetically predisposed to alcoholism. Just be careful in the future when you choose to indulge in drinking, as if the circumstances are correct it could always become a problem for you.

    Thanks again for posting man!

    Lol, care to elaborate?

I've always wanted my nipples pierced, in fact I was dumb enough to try it myself with a safety pin in the 6th grade and now I have a slight deformed left nipple  Not exactly traumatic or life changing, but it definitely sucks.

My most painful event was definitely positive in the long run but I'd say it was when one day I mapped the distance of how far the lake in my neighborhood goes around (1.8 miles) and I continuously lapped around it until I got to 20 miles. I managed to do it in just about 2 hours but my legs weren't working right for a week..

Guess I'll include mine in here as well. I've been in several crashes and stuff like that but none were at bad as when I was 9 or 10, my dad had recently remarried. He was an addict back then (yet I've never once my entire life seen him messed up on anything - SUPER LUCKY) but my and sister were in a room with his wife's children, I heard some yelling and shouting but the oldest girl of his wife wouldn't let me leave. 5 minutes later I had enough and rushed out where she couldn't catch me. I then see my dad with a gun pointing to his head. He looks at me and I could see him crying. He just looked at me for about 5 seconds, then fell to his knees with his arms open, I ran and hugged him. He then told me thank you for saving his life. I firmly believe if I hadn't had defied my orders to stay in the room my dad would be dead right now. Good ending to a horrible problem

Most painful event/situation you have lived through?

Sorry if I'm reviving a thread which should have come to pass, but i've been waiting a while to post something in here.
Probably the most painful experience was one I was living with not too long ago. I see theres a few similar stories where a friend of the person or the person themselves were using a drug, lets say heroin, and OD'd, and I too have a similar story.
Now, this one isn't much of a miracle one as the others, as a good few here ended with you or your friend being saved.
    Sadly, this wasn't the case.
I had a step brother who I have grown up with, he was a great guy and I always loved to hang out with him. However, once he hit about 15 or 16, he started getting into drugs.
Sure, a toke or two of pot won't kill you, but he did it so much he just needed something else to get the buzz. He eventually turned to heroin.
When he came over, things started dissapearing from the house. I lost my iPod and several games.
We finally got him to go to rehab, but sadly he still found ways to get it through. about a day shy of new years, I recieved a call from my mother, telling me that my step brother just overdosed, and died.
It was a pretty shocking experience, for most of the day I was completely numb, emotionless. It was like I was in a shell or something. Emotions eventually poured out but it was just such an eerie experience which grew into a very tragic ending.

I don't think I've ever pulled a groin playing sports before, but I can imagine how badly it sucks. Definitely falls into the category of a painful physical experience.

That really sucks bro... sorry to hear that :(

However, were you only trying to fuck her? If all you wanted was her pussy for 3 years, then you can't complain too much about being friend-zoned. Its not like you were madly in love with her :noworry:

I am not sure if this is a troll or not, but if you are serious, I've been there lol. The medication I take drys out my digestive system and makes it so that I only have a bowel movement every few days rather than daily like most people.. and often the stool is very hard and painful to pass. Pretty gross, I know, but that is the price you pay for being addicted to opiates.

That sounds less like a painful and traumatizing experience, and more like a great achievement! Congratulations :) I am happy to hear your hard work paid off.

Wow ArticX... I am really sorry to hear about the passing of your grandparents :( In the same week too... that is extremely unlucky. I hope that they were atleast "good" deaths though (as good as a death can be), and that they lived long, happy lives and were just ready to pass on.

And about losing your brother... wow. I can only imagine what a horrible experience that must have been, and how deeply it has impacted you & your families lives forever. I have never lost somebody as close to me as a brother, but I hope for your sake that the saying "Time heals all wounds" is true in your case.

You sound like a very strong person. Thank you very much for sharing your story :) God bless.

I agree with the guy who declared you a hero above this post.. I think you definitely did the right thing by ignoring your instructions/orders and running to save your Dad instead.

I also hope that the experience brought you and your father closer together, and that your Dad found the help & strength that he needed to move on with his life and win the battle against his inner demons. My thoughts go out to you and your dad :)

Don't apologize for reviving this thread man, I've been busy lately and haven't got around to reading any of these posts, but I am very glad you posted.

Let me start off by saying I am so sorry to hear about your loss.. I know exactly how it feels to lose somebody to a heroin overdose, and how horribly scarring the experience can be. Almost a year ago I lost a very close friend to a heroin overdose that was basically my fault, as without me in the picture he would never even have had access to the drug. I do not believe he was a user at all either, and the feelings of guilt and self-loathing for what I did to my friend (who saved my life the very day before), will probably never subside.

Luckily, with time & with lots of counselling and groups, I have begun my healing process and the process of learning forgiveness, so that I can hopefully forgive myself one day for what happened. I hope that you can heal the same way, and that you can accept your step brother's death and move forwards with your life, always keeping him close to your heart.

If you ever need to talk about what happened, or just need somebody to listen to you, please don't hesitate to message me or contact me via MSN. This is the exact purpose I created this thread - to help other people who have experience traumatic and/or painful experiences to get things off their chest, to relieve some of the stress, depression, and sadness that accompanies many of the hardships and curveballs that life throws in our laps.

I appreciate the heartfelt post man. Thank you for sharing :)

While working construction I watched as one of the electricians wasn't wearing rubber boots and messed up with the wires he was working with. I was apprenticing to this guy for almost 2 years as of now and I watched him electrocute himself to death infront of me, was extremely traumatizing for me.
