    fishing tips?

    Hi

I'm new to fishing so i'd like tips on how I can catch fish. I currently go to a private park that requires me to pay a fee to enter which lets me fish without a fishing license.

Normally, I found that luring and baiting is somewhat relaxing. Baiting = waiting for fish to bite and Luring = constantly casting and reeling in the lake.

It is important that a few basic details are covered.

Know the species of fish you're likely to catch and gear your bait towards those fish. If you know the type of fish you're catching there respond and I'll go into greater detail of how I'd go about angling for them. It's fairly hard without the species to give many recommendations.

Try different times of the day as different species tend to feed at different times. Bass for example feed primarily in the morning to afternoon where they slow feeding till it becomes cooler again whereas perch feed almost exclusively during the daylight hours and very rarely at night or dusk.

Water depth you're fishing is also important when it comes to using the right bait. If you're in shallow water a floating lure could attract the attention of bass easier than if the water were deeper. Deeper water you'd use a diver or a suspender.

If you're casting without much success it could be attributed to your retrieve being to quick or too slow or not eradict enough to gain the attention of fish. Try reeling slower or quicker than you've been trying and changing speeds during your retrieve. Once you include what species you're fishing for I can probably give specific advice related to that species.

I'm trying for catfish and bass.

When I'm out for catfish, I just let the bait sink in the lake but not sure how deep the water. I was using chicken liver to catch my prey.

For bass, I was using a lure to catch them.I catch a lot of green stuff and sometimes my lure gets caught onto something.

I'm a newbie if you ask me.

I wonder if a fixed bobber would help for bait fishing and luring.

With the lure in a pond you're much more susceptible to snagging and catching weeds like you are that's why floating or top water lures work well in some ponds. As for attaching a bobber to a lure generally that ruins the action of the lure and you will catch very few bass with the lure. Using a bobber with live bait such as a worm may be successful though depending on the pond.

There isn't much to it man.

If your lure is catching a lot of crap then try reeling in slower. With my lures the faster you reel the lower they usually go, but if you go slower they come towards the top.

As for catfish I don't really fish for them that much, Although i'm planning to. Sounds like your doing it right though. I bought some catfish bait the other day.

With fishing basically as long as your having fun and relaxing you're doing it right.

If I were to go bait fishing , where I would just cast my rod in the lake and let t sit, do I need a bobber?

"The bobber is used to suspend the bait a specific distance from the waters surface to attract the fish. When the fish takes the bait the resistance of the bobber helps set the hook and provides a visual clue to the angler they've got a fish. "

For lure fishing, I guess I can just reel in the lure slowly as I was doing it completely wrong!

For bait fishing for catfish you could use a bobber or just let it sit near or on the bottom. When fishing with a lure the usual retrieve or speed of reeling in is slow. You may need to speed it up slightly if you find that the fish are following the bait but never taking it. I'm always down to talk about fishing so if you have Skype you could add me :)

    sure

as a beginner i'd love to hear from you to give me more advice. Although no fishes were caught, I had fun and in result, i lost two lures. One got stuck on a tree and another got stuck in the water.

I prefer baiting because I'd rather relax while fishing, if you're looking for fish like cat fish, I find that using shrimp is very effective here in Canada.
