Hi, welcome to my guide, as an iPhone holder since january, I've decided to write a guide because I'm bored. Yes?

iPhone Guide by Hilariousness16, Version 1.0

    Table of Contents

    1. The Main Screen..................11. iPod
    2. SMS....................................12. Calculator
    3. Contacts.............................13. Mail
    4. Calender..............................14. Notes
    5. Photos................................15. Safari
    6. Youtube..............................16. Settings
    7. Stocks................................17. iTunes
    8. Maps..................................18. Phone
    9. Weather.............................19. Camera
    10. Clock................................20. App Store

    __________________________________________________
    The Guide.

    1. The Main Screen

As you can see, it's pretty ordinary, and you probably seen it in the ads. The main menu has 7 different screens which you can scroll through, which has
a purpose which I will explain later in this guide. You can also customize where you want your icons to go just holding the home bottom. All self explanatory. Many people ask, " Can you change the background screen?", and the answer is, "No". Why?, I have no idea, but with hacks and jailbreaking, this is a possibility, but I do not recommend it, unless you really hate the color black.=| Remember hacking and jailbreaking can make some of your features on your iPhone or iPod touch not work, commonly youtube and mail.
    [IMG] [IMG]

    2. SMS

SMS stands for "Short Message Service", as known as "Text Messaging". This feature is pretty straight forward. Creating a new conversation is easy, just type in the phone number, and the iPhone will take you into a nice interface where you can type what ever the hell you want! Nice layout, and fast. That's all I need on my text messages. The green bubble is what you wrote, and the gray bubble is what your friend wrote. You can either choose to delete the conversation after your done, or you can just leave it there.

    3. Contacts

This feature is new to the iPhone 2.0. This feature just tells you who your contacts are on your phone. I don't have a lot of people because I find it useless because I just the phone keypad. heh. In this feature, you can also click someone's name, and then it will display the information about them including their phone number, and email. This is useful if you got short term memory. With the new search feature, finding someone on your phone is as easy as Barack Obama defeating John McCain in the election.

    4. Calender

Have you ever forgotten a meeting or a doctor's appointment, or have you been late for something? I sure didn't, because I'm responsible, but you might of. You can set up a appointment or meeting time on your phone by touching the "+" sign on the top right corner, and another menu comes up telling you what details to fill in. After that your meeting should be on your calender, and there should be a dot under the date of your meeting or appointment. Useful, really really Useful.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    5. Photos

You got memorable photos, or maybe some "other" photos? Put them in your iPhone! or use the camera, of course! The photos feature is just like your "pictures" folder on your computer, except better.(lol). If you love your dog, why not make a folder dedicated to him? I got over 400 pictures of my dog, and counting. Why? I'm legally insane.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    6. Youtube

Alright, everyone that I have met had always loved youtube (or was it redtube..I forgot). This is one of my favorite features because you got the whole youtube database right on your hands. Searching is easy, and viewing a video is also very easy. Loading time varies if your on wifi or on the EDGE network. This feature is useful if your bored or you just want to fool around. You can add videos to your "Favorites" and you can also see the "most views" video from Today, This Month, or All-Time.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    7.Stocks

This one is boring, so I'll make it quick. Do you buy stocks? Of course you don't that's why this section is going to be only 2 sentences.

    8. Maps

This one is probably the most useful feature on the phone. The maps feature, or as I like to call it, a phonebook, is AMAZING! On the search menu, just search whatever you want. I did blockbusters. When I did, it displayed the location closest to me. Clicking on it displays where the nearest blockbuster is, and it displays all the infomation you need. The phone number, and the website of that building. Fantastic!

    [IMG] [IMG]

    9. Weather

Do you ever think to yourself whether you should go out and see the weather? You don't have to because this thing shows you!It displays the current weather outside if you don't want to turn your head 90 degrees. You can add your location by pressing the flashing icon on the bottom right corner, and just put in the information needed. Brilliant!

    10. Clock

This app is pretty useless since a clock is on the top of the iPhone screen, but I guess it's useful if your trying to call a friend but don't know what time it is at their country. It has a world block, alarm, stop watch, and a timer. All basic clock stuff. I like the timer, since I want to know when it ends.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    11. iPod

This feature is the main reason why Apple was so successful. They built a nice clean layout for the songs. The iPod feature has the traditional "Top Rated" and " On the go" song lists, etc. Something different about this is when you tilt your phone, you will get a list of all the album covers. When tilted, the screen looks stunning, and looks like your in a different dimension.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    12. Calculator

Is it hard for you to do math? Of course it is, that's why they invent calculators damn it! iPhone doesn't just have the transitional calculator, but when tilted, you get the scientific calculator. I'm pretty sure the iPhone is the only phone that has this type of calculator. It has all the features a regular scientific calculator has, and no need to shell out $30 on a scientific calculator because it's right on the phone! Good thinking Apple!

    [IMG] [IMG]

    13. Mail

This feature I use almost everyday. I get mail constantly because I'm so great and people want to hear me talk. Email is sent to your inferface automatically, or you can press the "Refresh" bottom to see what you missed. When you have an unread email, the email icon will have a red circle with a number on it, depending how many unread emails you have. This only applies to your Inbox folder, not your spam. You can also write back, and save pictures that someone has send to you right on your iPhone. Great stuff.

    14. Notes

As you can see, this feature is basically a notepad to write what ever you want. I use this space as an agenda to write my homework and stuff. Create a new note by pressing the "+" bottom on the top right. The first sentence/ line will be your title. You can use this space to write a "things to do before you die", or a simple checklist on what you need to bring home or do. Simple, yet powerful...Sorta..=|

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    15. Safari

This feature is great, you can see animals live on your iPhone straight from Africa! Seriously thought, this feature is known as a internet browser which is obviously useful, but I rarely use it because it's slow>_<. But when I do, it is useful because you can go to any site, but remember that iPhone doesn't support flash and that good stuff so you can't look at videos other then youtube, but you can go on Sythe :p That's all it matters to me. Tilting the phone with the internet browser still there obviously makes it turn, giving you a more easier way to read.

(Yes, I did google, google, on google) <--huh?

    [IMG] [IMG]

    16. Settings

Settings is where the heart of the phone is, where the whole phone is controlled. If your sick of the slow speeds, switch to Wi-Fi, if your in wifi range. When your in settings, just click Wi-Fi, and the iPhone should automatically detect a WiFi connection. The settings is also where you set up a mail account, change your ringtone, Fetch New data from Microsoft exchange server (if your a wall streeter), and switch to "Airplane" mode when your up in the sky. You can pretty much edit and do what you want in this section, use it wisely.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    17. iTunes

iTunes is a music database where you download music or videos onto your device, but with the intergrated iTunes on the iPhone, you can only download / buy songs. I hope they will have videos in the future:confused: Songs cost usually 0.99 no tax. Apple's cheap, but they give you a free 30 second sample so you don't buy the wrong song. Remember, no refunds.-_-

    [IMG] [IMG]

    18. Phone

I've seen people buy the iPhone, and never use the phone (me). By here's a quick guide on this section. The phone has five features. Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad, and Voicemail. All you know which is traditional. THe favorites list is where you add your hommies. Recents show your recent calls. Contacts just shows your buddies. Keypad is where you manually punch in the numbers, or touch, and voicemail is messages left to you when you were to lazy to pick up the phone. All the usual.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    19. Camera

I overuse this function so much since I like to take pictures. THis function is fun because the camera can't be any simplier then this. Touch the icon, and you should be taken to a camera. With the huge ass screen in front of you, you can take a picture of what you want, and even ever! Below is a sample picture of a close up of a statue in my room of a dog. The camera is 2.0 Megapixel, which kind of sucks, but you know what, it's a phone. After you take the picture, your photo will automatically be placed int he "Camera Roll" in your photos section, or you can press the bottom left folder screen to go to your camera roll.

    20. App Store

Best for last. The app store is one of my favorite features because you can download unique applications on your phone. You can have Monkeyball, Pinball, or Frogger as a game on your phone. (You need 10 bucks to buy...hehehheh) but it's all worth it because these applications could give you hours of fun. Some of the games are free, but really suck, so I recommend you pay for some. You can display the Top 25 Apps or you can see the featured / New apps available for download.

This wraps up my guide (for now), and except this guide to be updated every day!

Please post any errors I made or anything inappropriate.
Rate out of 1-10 please :p

This Guide is entirely written by me, along with the screenshots which are actual from my phone!

Very nice guide, 9/10. One question tho, I can't seem to get the scientific calculator, how do you open it?

    Thank you!

and it depends what version firmwire you got. Check it in settings > general > about

If it doesn't say 2.0., then you don't have the scientific calculator. If you do, you should just easily turn the calculator sideways, but takes like 5 seconds to load up.

Bummer, i'm on v1.1.3 ;/ Won't my iPhone crash if I update it to v.2? I mean my iPhone isn't connected to any of those AT&T or w/e. I bought it unblocked.
