Say Bye Bye To Vouches?

Hi,
This is a suggestion that would near enough wipte out the need for vouches.

Reputation.

You will probably have seen it on other forums, it's available for most types of forums and is usually very easy to install.

You choose small images (Usually of a + and - sign) to go where post count/avatars are shown, and when the + or - pictures are clicked, the user that clicked them is taken to a page.

This page gives a text box and dependant on which image you clicked, you will either enter a reason for giving good reputation or bad reputation.

Reputation can also be used to ban people once they reach a certain amount of negative reputation or promoted once they reach a certain amount of good reputation.

You can also set it so people can not give reputation until they reach a certain amount of posts, this can stop people from spamming new accounts to ban people:

(But i wouldn't suggest this for Sythe as people with low amounts of posts may need to rep someone for a good/bad trade).


This feature would mean that people would not have to dig about for someones vouches, they could simply go to their profile and take a look at their reputation.

 

This has been suggested, this won't be accepted because its too easy to abuse. Just like vouches are being abused.

 

Eh...if vouches are being abused, surely it will hardly make a difference to make the switch to rep? Atleast then everyone will have easily accessable vouches.

 

I really don't see the difference. I think it's a good idea, but it probably won't be implemented.

 

stupid idea, people will just make accounts to add rep.
with vouches you can atleast check which ones are legit.

 

alot of people will give good rep for friends and mates. and is a little complicated evolving into that from vouches.

 

If this should happen, only gurus should be allowed to.
That would cause massive spamming, just to be able to give "respect", so people would want to trade you - 'cause you can give respect.
I don't support.
You can look at vouches if they're good or "free account megavouch", unless your IQ is under a certain amount.

 

There's a reason why Sythe uses vouches, as opposed to Reputation.


Reputation can be given to anyone, from anyone, as can vouches. However, unlike vouches, you cant see who gave the reputation to you. Vouches can only be given by the person saying "Vouch for -----", which shows who gave you the vouch, and what for. Reputation on the other hand, is just a number that can be given out by anyone easily, and there's nothing showing who gave it to you. =)

 

It would be to easy to exploit even more so than vouches end of story won't happen

I don't agree. For the simple reason that while vouches you can check if they are legit or not reputation is just one click thing. Only thing I would possibly agree is an iTrader thing where it is possible to add and write what it was the trade. Yet I think the current system is good enough.

Vouches are a way to show a trade, not a way to be trustworthy.

 

yea true this is a good idea in some ways but then its a disadvantage to those who are actually willing to trade and are legit you just never know, but yea the can be anoying because some people say the more you have the more trusted you are =.= in some ways yes but not all the time...

 

I like the idea but two things come to my mind:

1) Paying people to give you reputation.

2) Having like 20 plus people on sythe all give each other reputations.

My add-on to this would be that we should have another thing next to the reputation called Mod Reputation and Admin Reputation. Everytime a mod or admin wants to give you reputation they can give you it through there. So a person with higher admin or mod reputation is going to be more legit.

 

I've had reps systems on other forums and it's always abused.

 

Vouches serve the same purpose and allow a bit more feedback.

 

No, because there are codes out there that allow someone to raise there rep with a click of a button.

And i would probably downgrade someone every chance i get..for the hell of it

A vouch is a quote of something someone said commonly used to show that a person has been trusted before hand. They do not mean a person is trusted, it's a quote, an opinion. It would be a bit stupid to not allow people an opinion.

 

well we have enough spamming for post count on sythe... why would we want users to spam 50 posts so they can rep themselves?
