Basically your mini-ranks are for contributing to a section of the forum, if you hover over the mini-rank it tells you which section it is. Each of these sections has like maybe 50 post counts with in a month, and if you reach that amount of posts within that section you are rewarded with a temporary mini-rank that displays that you are active there It's non tradable however and unless its spam forum related you should wear it with pride
