Anyone enjoy fishing? I try to go at least once a week fishing for Striper/Large mouth/Catfish with my brothers and friends.

Usually go trout fishing at some local holes once a week. I've been slacking off recently though as I haven't had a ton of time. I do like the occasional small mouth bass fishing too.

I usually fish in saltwater inlets. Reds, flounders mostly recently. Some dumb baby sharks as well.

I love fishing, ive been going out with a lighter pole and catching some pretty goodsized bass and catfish on it. Feel like fucking whales when you are under equipped. Lots of fun for even smaller fish.

I've gone a couple of times, never personally enjoyed it. I guess I have other relaxing stuff to do instead.

I don't really like the smell of taste of fish anyway, so meh.

Wow nice I'm limited to when I can go by my lack of transportation atm.

Yeah I've never really had the chance to fish for anything more than bass/cats but they're super fun for me.

I used to trout fish with my grandpa before he passed like 10 years ago, never had a bad day ;)

I have a beach trip coming up and I'm looking forward to doing some fishing on the beach, any tips man???

Same my girlfriend has one of those kiddy poles and I hooked her up with a 4/0 circle hook and some chicken liver and she thought she was snagged and had a fat cat on it, it was a lot of fun, he was pulling drag on that little thing.

Do you have a brother or someone to go with? I think it's just great times sittin on the bank with my brother watching the sun set.

Used to fish carp daily but haven't been able to since I moved out, definitely getting back into it after my move from back to my parents.

I've never specifically targeted carp, though I've caught some by accident looking for cats.

    Same :)

    Fishing

I used to enjoy fishing a lot, but everytime I went out fishing I always saw a lot of big rig fishing boats. How far fishing has industrialized is scary to me. I used to go fishing with my dad, but I rarely go unless I'm visiting him. It's really one of the few father son activities we did besides going to baseball games.

If you are interested there is a book called Four Fish by Paul Greenberg about the industrialization of fish and how we are over-catching, causing certain fish to be in danger. The book is very well written, highly recommend.

Native Americans where I live have no limit on # of fish they can keep provided that they don't sell them. The sad part is they do sell them. Not only that they use big nets to catch them and they actually discard the meat that isn't walleye as its not worth anything to them. A few wonderful lakes have been almost ruined. Nippising is the best example of this. They've fished so much of the walleye population the ministry isn't sure it can recover at all and the ministry has severely limited the fishing for the average fisherman. This is one of those topics that really grinds my gears. I actually debated at one point to throw away my set up masters degree to become a ministry of natural resources person to hit them with big fines for selling the fish.

Is it the same problem as gambling elsewhere but native american reservations? Is the limit not enforceable on their land?
